If you could choose just one tech priest-style augmentation for yourself—think bionic limbs, neural link, or self-repair systems—with no cost and guaranteed safety, what would you pick? How far would you personally go before drawing the line between human and machine?

Yes as a cancer survivor, the flesh is weak. Please give me the sanctity of metal.

Fabius Bile is disappointed you havent talked about him. As one medical professional to another, you understand...

"From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel." 100% would embrace it.

I like how Techpriests in Mechanicus game tend to speak in the binary while the more lucid of Necrons, the no-flesh,no-soul left conversions from living to the machines(and pretty much what many techpriests look up to in a way) talk with normal english. Millions years old aliens turned machines are mourning the loss of their "humanity" while human techpriests are willingly stripping themselves out of it.

I have to agree with another commenter. A video about Fabius Bile, going over his 'career' and how much hot water he'd be in with modern day ethics and legal boards would be hilarious and fun.

Team Mechanicus... when I hit 70 or when my flesh really starts reaching its limits. I mean, if its broken down anyway, why not?

@2:05 Ethics? I thought we were talking about 40k?

Dialed up to 11? HERESY! 12 is the sacred number of the machine!

0:47 If I had ANY faith that I wouldn’t get hacked and turned into a flesh puppet and or have ads play into my eyeballs in my sleep. Yes. Yes I would.

There was a discussion in the Ghost in the Shell anime series that rung true to me ever since I heard it. I don't remember the exact quotes, but those of the main cast that got extensive cybernetic augmentation to be part of what was basically a government-run SWAT team, if they decided to quit the job, there wouldn't be much left of them once all the government property was "returned", so they were more or less married to the job psychologically and physically to cope, and the cast didn't seem to want to dwell too much on the ramifications of their situation.

I think realistically, with how fast technology "advances" and becomes disposable, that post-human cybernetic "enhancement" is one giant perpetual debt-trap and/or serfdom to a corporate or government entity waiting to happen. I have a hard enough time keeping up with car maintenance. At least I can walk with my fleshy legs and take public transit if I have to wait a paycheck for repairs. I have far fewer options if I am acutally grafted into the driver's seat for "optimal reflex time".

@NerdsInteractive 9 months ago

Part of the Heresy on Mars was due to hacking...or a scrap Code, as it was called. So yes, a realistic problem

Warhammer Tech-Priest: Suberhuman abilities almost beyond comprehension.
2026 cybernetic augmentation: "These artificial legs work through a subscription model, the standard model includes walking, sitting and lying down. For an extra $20 a month you'll get the stairs-upgrade which, well, allows you to go up and down stairs. Basic running is $50 a month, the trail package $85, but it does include the stairs. There is a gold subscription for 500 that will let you outrun your neighbours Prius, but I'd recommend you'd also opt in on the expanded battery pack for that one. And yes, obviously we track all your steps and use it to train the algorithm, and every 30 minutes you'll get an ad where your legs automatically walk towards a store of one of our 1.487 partners near you."

18:29 "You shouldn't blame me! This is mankind's dream! Mankind's desire! Mankind's destiny! To be the strongest, to go the furthest, to climb the highest! To compete, to envy, to hate each other, and devour one another! -- I am the product of all this, that's how I know! Humanity will be swallowed by the darkness it's created!" - Rau Le Creuset, Gundam Seed.
