Bad knees after 70 do not always mean squats, surgery, or just living with the pain. In this video I show you three gentle, knee-safe moves I give my clients over 70 to calm aching knees, walk down stairs without gripping the rail, and get stronger without a single squat or lunge. I am Coach CC Matthews, a certified personal trainer, and for over 20 years I have specialized in helping adults over 60 get stronger, build stronger bones, and stay steady on their feet, in person and online.

Here is what almost nobody tells you about knee pain after 70. The problem usually is not just the front of the knee, where every other video has you train. It is often the muscles behind and around the knee that quietly stopped doing their job, so all the load lands on the joint. That is why squats, lunges, and pushing through it can make a cranky knee worse. We do it a smarter way. In older adults with knee arthritis, simple strengthening exercise reduces pain and improves how well the knee works, without surgery.

I walk you through three moves you can do at home with a sturdy chair or your counter. The first strengthens the front of the knee. The second is what makes this video different, the back of the knee, a small muscle called the popliteus that physical therapists call the key of the knee, and almost no other video trains it. The third is a gentle heel slide that takes the morning stiffness out. Every move has a seated version and a standing version, so you can start right where you are, even if you cannot get down on the floor.

If you have been searching for knee pain relief for seniors, knee strengthening exercises after 70, how to strengthen knees without surgery, or knee-safe exercises without squats, this is the video that puts a simple plan together. You will also learn why your knees hurt more going down the stairs than up.

This channel is dedicated to senior fitness, functional movement, pain relief, balance, and staying independent for adults over 60 and over 70. New videos every week. If this helped, subscribe, and leave a comment with your age and which move you are starting with, because I read every single one.
