Here's Tom Petty's comment the day after Garry died: "I’ve known Garry for a long time. We go back to the mid-80’s. I just want people to remember what great work he gave us. The Larry Sanders Show just stands as some of the best TV work ever done. He was always quiet about his talent and just a really decent guy.

We had a very strong friendship. We kept in touch all that time. You know, he’d come to our shows, and he’d hang out with us. I went to his house many times and he would come to my house. It was a comfortable friendship where if he came over I didn’t feel like I had to entertain him, and it was the same way back. He had an incredibly original talent, and as a man I can’t say enough about him.

He was more than a showbiz acquaintance to me, he was a dear friend, and I will miss him."

These guys were better friends than we know about. And still laughing together. R.I.P. you two.

“Life is short, but not short enough.” Classic. Fortunately, these two will live forever.

RIP Garry Shandling (November 29, 1949 – March 24, 2016), aged 66
And
RIP Tom Petty (October 20, 1950 – October 2, 2017), aged 66
You both will be remembered as legends.

"You're Tom Petty..."
"...24 hours a day"

The older you get, the other side gets a little less scary. If those two guys are over there, I'm not freaked about going there either.

It's a beautiful world when we are able to watch things like this.

“Did you become Jewish since I last saw you?”

I was never really aware of their friendship. Such a beautiful thing

most people think of tom only for his music talent, but he  fought the record giants and won

Living proof that life is to prescious and to short....R.I.P to both Gary Shandling
and Tom Petty.

RIP Tom. They're neighbors again now :-(

I really Miss Garry Shandling. What a great guy.

Tom seems like someone you could listen to all day about music, or life in general, and not get tired of hearing him.

"I don't meditate that much anymore. Because you're not supposed to do it when you're stoned"...... Lol

Both Now Gone Forever, Man Life is Short...RIP Tom & Gary...

Rest in peace Tom and Gary.   Tragic news about Tom's passing.....

They were both 66 when they passed.  We miss you, gents.  Great laughs and great music.  Respect and Rest In Peace and condolences to those close to you.

"You used to come over, but you never come over anymore. I guess you're busy."

"Did you turn Jewish since I saw you last?" HAHAHAHA.

"Life is short...but not short enough." Rest In Peace, gentlemen.

I COULD LISTEN TO TOM EVERY DAY, HE'S SO LOVEABLE.
