Is the Wheeltop EDS TT groupset the best budget electronic drivetrain for triathlon and TT bikes?

In this video, I review the new Wheeltop EDS TT wireless groupset and compare its shifting performance, setup experience, reliability, and overall value against premium options like Shimano Di2 and SRAM AXS.

From installation to real-world ride testing, I cover:

Wireless shifting performance
TT and triathlon bike compatibility
Base bar & extension shifters
Battery life and app setup
Pros and cons after testing

If you’re building a budget TT bike or looking for an affordable electronic shifting upgrade, this review is for you.

I’d agree with you on the brake lever slower shifting - not sure if it’s hardware related or software related. If they can change it to press both brake lever buttons for FD shifting and solve the delay then it would be perfect. But I think they mentioned it’s wired so there’s a hardware delay. Will be testing it out on my first triathlon this season this weekend!

In a sport where it's all about the details and optimizing you present two major downsides of this groupset: the slow basebar shifting and the hardware (shifter buttons) limiting to setup your desired position. In a race situation you're done.

Is it possible to delete the front shifter with this set.?

Looks solid, I'm looking at both this and the LTWOO erx-tt groups. Still unsure which would be the most reliable out of them. Both are a similar price. The base bar shifting sound like it would get annoying and could be an issue if you are on the limit and accidentally do a front shift.
I"m between these groups or piecing together a sram setup with mechanical hybrid brakes.

I've got a unique scenario and I'm wondering if any of you who've used the wheeltop tt stuff could answer this. Riding buddy of mine got diagnosed with ALS, has had to move to recumbant trikes and doesn't have the strength to use the bar end shifters they come with, and honestly an AXS/DI2 type system would be ideal. Weird bars obviously so the mounting space is limited. Do we know if you NEED to use the brake level mounted shifters along with the TT bar end mounted ones? If i could get away with just using the right bar end shifter and rear derailleur it would be a pretty slick solution for him.

A schill really? This man introduced me to Winspace quite awhile ago before they a where popular choice. I purchased the Wheeltop EDS tx from Wheeltop and had no issues with it. The front derailleur took two test rides to setup properly. Great video as usual.

What is that aero bar it looks so nice

How did you find the setting up of the front mech and running a bigger chainring than a 53

@coachdanielphd 4 months ago

Thanks for the video, Charles. If you run a 1x setup without the front mech installed do you think you'll still have that delay?

I bought a 2nd hand LightCarbon and it came with the WheelTop EDS. Swapped it out for my Sram setup on my older bike, but I'm thinking of building my first TT bike and using the WheelTop EDS and just pick up the TT brake levers, wired cable, and aero shifters (I live in China so parts are more accessible). I'm glad companies like WheelTop are out there, we need more options for groupsets to keep pricing under control and to drive more innovation.
