Owning a rugby club is basically a passion project and funding loss making years most of the time. Not ONE club makes a profit in the Prem. The oneβs who manage their losses best are Saints, Tigers and Glaws - who canβt afford to not, but also own their physical assets like stadium, and have high home attendance all the time.
Sheβs very down to earth too considering her and Simon are worth well over a billion (and related to Jason Orange haha..).
And we completely rely on them. Weβve got (I believe) 3 billionaire backed clubs in the Prem (Sale, Bath, Bristol), with Exeter secure now with their new US merge, and Newcastle in safer hands with Red Bull - the league is poised to start making it pay more for clubs to be a part of because owners patience and risk profiles will begin to wane (Tony Roweβs did).
I reckon Sale will have a bounce back in the coming season - Courts will instil some baseline standards in the pack and wider squad and the likes of Marchant will add some real quality to the backline - England have missed Marchant - he was basically Max Ojomoh while MO was still in short trousers.
