Sean getting duped by team rocket dressed as Vikings will be my constant future defence for why Ash and the crew dont recognise them through the disguises🤣

Fun Fact: In the Japanese version of the first Pokemon movie there's a cut scene we don't get in the Western version. Turns out there were four other clones being worked on in the lab, one for all of the kanto starters and one of a little girl who was either the daughter or granddaughter of the head scientist. Metwo's psychic abilities allow all of them to communicate and play with each other while they're developing however all of the other clones suffer complications and die out leaving Mewtwo alone. Makes his aggression a little more reasonable when you learn he comes out the "womb" with all of his friends dead.

I don't know if anyone's ever mentioned it, but Ash's Japanese name is Satoshi, so when Pikachu says "Pika pi" it's his attempt to say Satoshi, so in the first movie when he says slowly "pika... pi?" It breaks my soul

Jesse and James are canonically very kind and loving towards their Pokémon, hence why James' always seem to want to hug him or tackle him. Because they love him so much.

Not knowing Pokemon and being like "They misspelled Unown!" made me laugh so hard.

LMAO okay, apparently none of them realize the Pokemon are named Unown

Something interesting to note about 7:08, This was the FIRST REVEAL of Donphan, at least in the Japanese movie. Gold and Silver would only release ONE WHOLE YEAR after this movie in Japan. Similarly, the movie was released in 1999 for the US, and Gold and Silver was released to the US a year after that.

We had NO IDEA what this new pokemon was, and it just DROPPED on us in this movie. It really helped build the hype for the 2nd generation pokemon games!

6:30 ash literally announces everytime he meets someone "hi im ash from pallet town" so its not too strange for him to know his hometown

The song Brother My Brother is criminally overlooked

“They spelled Unknown wrong” no,,no that’s actually how that Pokemon in particular is spelled (it’s stupid we know)😭💀

booms face when the pikachu are slapping each other :_stupidWow:

It's weird that ash is canonically still ten considering in a special short thing "pichu and pikachu." It explicitly says ash planned a party to celebrate the anniversary of him meeting pikachu, which happened on his birthday, so he should at least be 11

Would like to point out how funny 2:51:52 is if you think about it, Onyx was so mad about losing, he woke up just to smack that 200kg ROCK TYPE tyranitar into the middle of the lake before passing out when it was already down. Onyx just absolutely murdered that mind controlled Tyranitar.

Also its been forever since I saw the 3rd movie, thinking about it, the Unown originating from a alternate world like that somewhat makes sense considering their unique design. It also makes way more sense than I remember that they had basically unlimited ability to make a psychic barrier, because they are all psychic types and there's so many of them.

People currently been memeing and making fun about Guzzlord's Japanese voice in the anime but I totally FORGOT that Zapdos literally sounds like a guy screaming in angony in the 2000 movie! :_stupidLol:

The guy in the second movie is Tracey, he's Brock's replacement for the second season (not very much liked by the fandom)

Cautiously hoping we get Diamond and Pearl movies soon, maybe within the next year or two 😇

In the show Charizard starts listening to ash after Orange Islands, which is before ash gets to Johto. He loses in a fight from water/ice and ash is there to comfort and heal him and he starts trusting ash and gains his respect (which is what he did when he first met ash as a charmander)

You know what, I think I will rewatch ash die for the 100th time.

1:51:27 Charizard is the reason that Bulbasaur and Squirtle don't evolve, I'm not sure if it gets stated outright in the show, but they saw how Charmander changed in personality when becoming Charmeleon and Charizard, bc Ash wasn't a strong enough trainer to tame him, so the other two decided to not evolve so they wouldn't become disobedient like Charizard

It would probably be impossible to watch the entire series of Pokémon at this point. However, there are mini series such as Pokémon Generations, Pokémon Evolutions, and Pokémon Twilight Wings that would for sure be worth watching! A lot of them are just based on characters and moments from the games, and they're really well animated!

I'm gonna watch this like 5 times today, i want the Pokemon reactions to do well because i GENUINELY think they will enjoy the next few movies they have. That being "The Arceus Trilogy". Please Billy, don't screw me here, we need this to happen.
