The "safety pin" is the antenna coil. The screws are adjustments for antenna and oscillator trimming. The Rice Chex are there if you are starving and want a snack!
You should be able to use #7 as the audio output and #6 would be ground. #1 is for your antenna. You can ignore the rest as they involve connections for phono, etc.

Manufactured in 1947. It's only a Tuner not a radio. It needs to be connected to an amplifier and speaker.
