The idea that she had to fall in love with every man that arrive to the island it's not from Greek myths, it's from Percy Jackson books saga, on the myth she is just curse to be on the island

so Calypso (in myth) is not cursed to fall in love with any man who washes up on Ogygia's shore (the island), im pretty sure that was some thing the creator of Percy Jackson created.

"What do we do when we have no new Epic in our lives?"
You re-listen to it. Over. And over. And over. And over. 😂

A good heartbreaking song yes, but it took 7 years and divine intervention for Calypso to allegedly figure out how unfair she was being to Odysseus lol! Odysseus was forcibly kept on the island and suffered greatly from being kept (possibly forever) from getting home. The last Calypso song made a point to tell us that he did not have a choice. "Under my (Calypso) spell we're  in paradise. ; my (Calypso) island stays unknown." Given Calypso is a goddess and has been alone for such a long time, it makes sense on why she may have taken so long, but surely after seeing Odysseus suffering at the end of "Love in Paradise" she knew something was up.

Imo, since nothing changed for 7 years of Odysseus resisting until literal divine intervention from Zeus, (through Hermes) Calypso's tears are crocodile tears of self-pity and not tears of sorrow for what she did to Odysseus. I feel less bad for Calypso, even though Calypso's situation sucks. I am an Odysseus shill. 🧔⚔
Great song, and Great reaction as always. ❤

3:20 she wasn’t cursed to fall in love, that is a modern idea. that being said, isolation does things to you… «last time i checked godesses can’t die»… checked? how did you check? and last time…?

that being said, she is keeping him there against his will, she is harming him. someone can be both a victim and an abuser. and u can be abusive without meaning to. 9:10  she is letting him go cous the gods desided she had to, not willing

13:16 YES! YES! YES!!! I LOVE THIS CHUBBY CALIPSO DESIGN! SHE LOOKS SO HUGGABLE

actually about being "daughter of titan"... it is complicated.
she is daughter of Atlas in many stories but... there is no implication of her being punished. According to proper story she can just leave if she wants.
This seems to be an inspiration from percy jackson books.

When I tell you this song broke my heart!!!!

Stories from Styx by Casper Fox is now out and it's amazing!!

OH MY GOD YES PLEASEEEEEEEE DO TWISTED!!! It’s absolutely phenomenal and gut-bustingly hilarious and the music is amazing. It’s truly Starkid’s magnum opus. If you love Aladdin and Wicked and are aware of the Disney/Pixar buyout, every joke is gonna hit like a mfer!!!

Everything Starkid does is fantastic, though. I highly recommend ANY of their works, which are all on their youtube channel for free!

Super lovely reactions!

Almost every line she have start with I, it's not understanding, it's manipulation
She is just using the escuse of 'loving" him to justify all the damage and pain she made him go thru.
If roles were reverse everyone would said creepy

You should try "the phantom sea" by sail north.

This song is just soo heartbreaking. I truly feel Calypso's pain, a lonely, isolated, immature person being abandoned by the one person that they felt connected to. Sure, there is a lot of complexity to the situation they're in and to her actions. But the emotions and genuine tone of her song and voice make it impossible for me to see her as much more than another victim. She can and should be blamed for what she did wrong, but Calypso IS sympathetic. The only way that I can truly see this as a "dark" song is if the visuals take Massive, Non-Canon, liberties to make her "book accurate"- which Jorge NEVER did.
As someone who only has a few friends, I relate to her and this song sooo much. My favorite song in the entire show- despite all of the toxic people that cannot comprehend this interpretation and make Me a villain for loving it. =/

For me this is the saddest song in the entire musical. Calypso has never seen another person in her entire existence except for maybe a few of the gods. Of course she's gonna be awkward around someone, the poor girl has the social skills of a bag of flower.

This song gets me every time.  I really feel for this version of Calypso.

The self help is called Stories from styx, or reading my books.

But theres minimally 2 channels I follow doing mythology musicals, 1 is for gilgamesh and the other is called Final stand which makes me think of that 1 sparatan war/ movie called 300. 🤔

My self help is just writing and making posting everything creatively inspired on my channel. I made a Demeter song, some persephone and hades stuff, a Penelope song, I'm looking for my Odysseus and Penelope stuff to put up, and I got some different god stuff. All to help inspire my writing and i bit bullet and have started sharing them because I don't have all the programs to do my chapter scene narrations yet or artwork.

Guys
Is thia a reupload? I'm preffy sure I've seen this one few days ago

I hate the fact i like this song because its such a gaslighting toxic ex song :< and i know shes a victim too but boesn't make it any less gaslighting...

What about "God Games" ? That song is supposed to come before this one...
