It is telling that X-Com and Angry Birds both started similarly, nearly cancelled games which became wildly popular amd spawned an rntire series. But X-Com is still known and still played, in large part because the originap gamess are still aviable, and we even have Open Xcom, even if it wasn't ever that widely known as Angry Birds. And from Angry Birds... the most known thing now is Bad Piggies. And it is also in large part becausd of mods.

Hey this video is really poorly researched just letting you know 💀 the spinoffs were actually not what killed the franchise or anything on Rovio themselves, it was pretty much Flappy Bird. After the success of Flappy Bird mobile games moved from being legit games to short arcade pick up and play distractions.

This led to most popular game studios to struggle and a big one who basically built an entire empire was Angry Birds, that movie was in production since 2010 they did not make it as a last ditch effort, most products up to 2016 were at least considered or developed during the golden age of mobile gaming
