The original Plants vs. Zombies 3 was supposed to take the series in a completely new direction, with 3D graphics, portrait gameplay, a new progression system, and plenty of changes to the classic PvZ formula. But after being soft-launched in 2020, it was pulled from testing and eventually abandoned. So what actually happened to it, and why did PopCap scrap it?

Pvz heroes slander will not be tolerated, it is actually a fire mobile game (unfortunately drowned in microtransactions, but u can hack it easily since it's pretty much abandoned)

I agree that old PvZ3 was overhated and actually pretty good, but I don’t agree with the points you made about current PvZ3. Basically everything you said isn’t even true anymore after updates it’s gotten. Scoring system is way less strict than two tiles like that, you can’t even upgrade merges without upgrading previous tiers, and they did balanced changes so merges are more necessary. Plus we’re getting a roguelike mode, removing zombie spawning on a set timer only, and more. Also og PvZ3 art style wasn’t bad, but I like the newest one more. Great work is being done on evolved.

PvZ3 has been through a lot, that is very true lol. I wish you mentioned more of the current version though, because this current build of Evolved people really enjoy and are optimistic about, esp with the CM’s taking and relaying our feedback. Especially the next Title Update which is going to change a lot of how the gameplay works.

I think comparing the original PVZ3 art style to the 3D shooters is... Very silly.

The Garden Warfare games and BFN are shooters, it's pretty obvious they would be 3D and either way the teams did a good job translating the plant/zombie designs into 3D, and I'd say a better job at actually making original characters.

PVZ3's original artstyle was very different and very strange at the time - even now, it's still weird and kinda bad to look at.
I think the PVZ tower defense games just work a lot better in 2D.

I personally think that the the game being vertical exclusive was a flaw, if they made it an option an optimized the game and it's ui for horizontal too, then it would have turned out way better.
Also, the chosen artstyle for PvZ 3(D) was not a flaw, what was the fatal flaw was the lazy execution of it, since you can see large differences between the GW and BFN effort when comparing it to the PvZ 3(D) effort.
The game was far from perfect, but it was probably the most original and with most potential if Pop Cap did listen to the serious critics and didn't delete it right away. Great vid(D)

the more modern builds of pvz3 evolved definitely out do old pvz3 but my mind still rejects bringing ingredients of plants instead of actual plants so I was more than happy to play trough rebuilt
(even tho I should honestly just go back to playing mods for the first two games and stuff)

Y'know this game/version could use:
Lawnmowers
Sunflower and other sun producing plants being actual plantables
The layout being portrait (the same way pvz 1 and 2 were)
And i was thnking that the story would be an around the world type of plot,you know new York,texas,south america,Egypt,china,austrailia,etc. you get the point
the music changing everytime a huge new wave of zombies approaches like in pvz 2
And lastly the gameplay speed being like pvz 1 and 2

tbh since welcome to zomburbia i had a second though about the 1st version but evolved it isn't bad cuz i do enjoy fusion a lot and i just don't want the pvz to die.

Pvz 3 had flaws when it was realeased but it was not that bad, it was over hated now I don't think pvz 3 will ever be released

I played this game when it came out, and this is why it failed;

It called itself PVZ3, but it's not PVZ3. The core gameplay is drastically different, the art style is drastically different, the way that you play it is drastically different. I wouldn't say it's BAD, but I will say that literally everything I liked about the first 2 games was absent in this one.

It pushes away all hardcore PVZ fans because... they expected a game like the first 2, and it was nothing like them.
It pushed away all non-PVZ fans because it's called PVZ3 and is filled with references to everything that happened before.

They created a game that, by it's very nature, could not succeed.
How could they have made it succeed? DONT CALL IT PVZ3. It's the PVZ formula but revamped to a more arcade-style, bite-sized experience. So call it PVZ Arcade or something!

It's like if they released Clash Royale, but called it Clash of Clans 2.

I remember playing the Pre-Alpha of PvZ3 in 2019, back then, I didn't think much of it. My mindset was: "Oh, a new PvZ3 game, might as well check this out".

Out of all of the version, the 3D PvZ3 was the most unique. I was apart of the PvZ3 hate train, too. I saw how many people were just trashing on this game and wanted to take part. I was only a kid, so of course, I didn't have an independent mindset.

You're definitely right when you say that people should form their own opinions instead of blindly agreeing with whatever others have to say. We are only human after all.

This really is the best version. It was a nearly finished game with a unique personality, but now it's stuck in development hell for 7 years and every version somehow has less content but more microtransactions than the beta. I wish they would just continue the Devour Tower story but with the new art style and gameplay tweaks like Sunflower and lawnmowers.

Tbh i really loved the old ver of pvz 3 and i really adored the 3d models and how the game looked, i will admit that the normal screen is wierd, but it was definitely fun to play
