Ok so out of the entire alien franchise, Prometheus arguably has the most going on in it. Laced with several high level concepts such as where we came from, our purpose in the universe and the chaotic nature of life, it has a lot beneath the surface.

Throughout the film we follow the crew of the Prometheus though the most interesting of them isn't exactly human. Michael Fassbender plays the synthetic android David who accompanies them on the mission.

David is much like the figure of prometheus from myths that has been instructed to act a certain way. Created solely to serve, the corporation has complete control of him. This can even be seen down to the characters fingerprints which bear the weyland yutani logo.

Just in the same way Prometheus took fire from the Gods and rebelled against his masters, David uses the black goo to stand against his. Incase you don't know the myths have Prometheus making humanity from clay and mud. However he gave the humans fire which was forbidden.

This was something that was supposed to be exclusive to the Gods and they worried humanity would use it against them.

Thus Prometheus was punished. There's a feeling with the synthetics that they too could take down us and the fear of AI is something that is rampant in real life as well.

This mindstate is also reflected in the humans as well. The movie acts as a cautionary tale of what happens if you do something forbidden by the Gods. This even leads to Holloway being burned with a flamethrower with fire of course being tied to

Prometheus wasn't advertised right at all. It should've been sold as like a "before mankind met the Xenomorphs, we met their creators" kind of thing. But, even then this movie holds back, and focuses on too many other things rather than offer up an Engineer perspective. I mean they're an intelligent, alien race they are capable of expressing things other than violence unlike the Xenomorphs.

I think the movie is underrated . Prometheus and Alien Covenant . Especially as Scott had to deal with studio executives limiting his film narrative

Think about how suprised that engineer must have been. Here, he was just getting ready to wipe out an entire planet and he wakes up to those very people staring him in the face with a robot. Hes sitting there with the very weapon hes going to use to wipe them out!! Pretty awkward im sure.

Is it just me , or has youtube started adding even more ads than last year? I feel like they're pushing people to pay for premium. Its super annoying when trying to listen to the video and out of nowhere some super loud ad comes on, and always at the worst time too.

19:55 The truth of that scene is it doesn't matter where or even When it takes place, as long as we see an Engineer and the Black Goo doing what they do. It's just a set up and introduction for the rest of the ideas that are going to be presented later in the movie.

I will forever be blessed with a wonderful childhood memory at age 7; sitting on my dad’s lap in the front row at a movie theater to watch Alien. Yes, my dad always let me watch horror movies. I even got an Alien puzzle. I can honestly say, with every single movie whether great or not, I’m a stoked out freak waiting to watch them. Because ironically, my dad died unnatural yet lives on with all these movies and always returns me back to a favorite memory and my most favorite movie ever in my now 52 years of life…

As someone who had a cesarean I will say that when you’re scared shitless and the adrenaline is pumping I don’t think you care much about the operation you just had. The adrenaline it self would be so much you wouldn’t feel the pain as much. I think is survival instinct.

44:20 Ridley Scott basically said "Make me a CGI version and a Practival version and then i'll descide what i want to use in the final film"
That doesnt necisarrily mean that the unused CGI-Version was a "originally planned" intepretation

I was one of the people who had no idea this movie was related to the aliens franchise. Nor had i seen any of those movies except maybe pieces.

I appreciate that you can point out all the flaws of a movie, laugh at them, but still resolve the video with 'i enjoyed it' -- its a damn good attitude in this day and age, and something i need to start doing
