The Mafia knew him as a jewel thief. But Donnie Brasco was the fake identity of FBI agent Joe Pistone.
The undercover mission, which began in 1976, took Pistone into the New York Mafia. For nearly five years, he lived under the same identity, working with members of the Bonanno family and gaining their trust. Lefty Ruggiero considered him a friend; Sonny Black wanted him officially accepted into the family. However, a murder order from the Mafia brought the operation to a dangerous turning point.
In this documentary, I tell the true story of Donnie Brasco, how he infiltrated the Mafia, the relationships he built, and what happened after his identity was revealed.
