In the UK the Police talk about the Public or Members of the Public /  USA in contrast talk about civilians - This says a lot.

Fords in the UK are built in the UK not the US. Ok I stand corrected in Europe.

She also has no idea what TPAC is, disgraceful!! The level of skill it takes should not be overlooked like this, shame on her

I have to be honest and say I think this is the worst video from GGL

Sorry -  poorly informed about UK Emergency Vehicles

We have plenty of Uk police shows and they do extremely well. The chases are handled extremely well to limit danger. They use Tpac where they box in a car with multiple police cars and gradually reduce speed, they arent afraid to use the helicopter, this helps them trail the suspects even if they need to stop chasing due to the risks.

She got her explanation of Tactical Pursuit And Containment, or TPAC, completely wrong. Completely contrary to her explanation, TPAC is a technique to be used during a high-speed chase, not after calling one off. TPAC is where one police car gets ahead of the suspect, one gets alongside it and a third gets behind it and they box it in against the side of the road.

Yep, Police in the UK (and most the world) are grouped more with the Ambulance and Fire service, public services there to help out. And whilst in America they are also described as a "public service" being "first responders"... I think we all agree they seem more better grouped with militaries. Army, marines, air force... And police.

The UK has a huge variety of Police cars, according to the region & particular uses, from vans, hatchbacks, Land Rovers to high powered pursuit vehicles.
The British Police do use unmarked cars & some specialist vehicles for high security work etc. The British Police do use Helicopters for searches & chase & pursuit purposes. They do use spike strips, known as 'Stingers' in the UK, & the cars are equipped with IT for identification & internet access communication etc.

Another huge factor to take into account is the amount of cctv in the UK which the police use constantly so they don't necessarily need to follow people at high speeds.
We also have an enormous amount of speed cameras so police aren't sitting around all day waiting for drivers to pass them at high speeds, they will set up random spots with the mobile speed cameras but they aren't then chasing those drivers, the driver will just receive a nice little letter through the mail saying that they were caught speeding.
On some roads and motorways we also have the average speed cameras which measure how long its taken you to pass between each camera and can measure whether you were speeding in between... quite clever as most people will slow down when they know a speed camera is coming up lol

Our police are quite hands off when it comes to driving unless something is either reported or seen on CCTV, like i said you might see them set up on the side of the road with the mobile speed cameras but again they won't be hands on.
Around Christmas and new year they'll have more traffic police out looking for people drink driving but its nothing like the states.

The smith system that was shown looked less comprehensive than our driving test too.

After seeing the UK police capture a suspect car first hand recently. I have huge respect for both the coordination, planning and execution. Two marked cars, one unmarked. The whole thing lasted less than a second. It's not about speeding over long distances. It's about tactical ability

US gallons are 20% SMALLER than UK Imperial gallons   -  so  comparing miles/gallon is complicated .

What is scary is the 5 keys is for most drivers in the UK and probably most of Europe is basic training that you have to learn to pass your test

There's nothing "expert level" about any American police training, they all get about 6 to 7 months or less, in the rest of the developed world it's one to two years, even 3 in some countries and a lot more training to specialise in something.

The fact that the US has a police force and the UK has a police service says it all.

That Smiths System of ‘advanced driving’, just seems like basic driver awareness that is taught as standard for people taking driving lessons in the UK, most of Europe and I daresay much of the world outside of the US. The fact that these are not required to be taught as ‘advanced driving skills’ to people who have passed their driving test in the UK is probably why the UK police services don’t need to teach them as part of the training.

It’s also worth bearing in mind that there are parts of the UK that are REALLY remote and that would need more than a car to be able to get backup to. Consider that in Scotland there are also inhabited (privately owned) islands that don’t have any public transport to and even the ones that do have a ferry service, the ferries don’t run 24/7 and may have hours between sails from the mainland. But even on the mainland there are many rural parts of all four countries of the UK that are remote and are realistically hours from major cities where specialist support could be coming from.

Most UK Police cars are upgraded too, with auxiliary battery packs for all the electronics on board and the police interceptor vehicles used for traffic and armed response duties are usually upgraded and engine mapped too

I really like how something unknown comes up on your reactions and you take the time to look it up. That way we both learn something new together.

Backup being far away does happen in the uk as well

Uk have ANPR as well
