Made a modlist order guide! I posted the links on the modlist page in the description. It's called "Modlist Order for Old Man Gamer's Lost and Hopeless Mod Compilation."

I am really surprised, given how well it has sold and been received, that we haven't seen more Kenshi-likes. There are certainly games that take elements and mention being inspired by it but nothing that really copies everything. Maybe if Kenshi 2 blows up it will inspire more.

Kenshi seperates the wheat from the chaff. I spent two hours crawling through the bonefields after my legs were eaten off. Two hours of crawling, then scanning the horizon for monsters, and stealthing. 2 whole hours of this, on ironman. In game time, that may have been a week. Eating nothing but my last ration of salted meat. Finally to make it to a town, then becoming a theif to afford hiring someone who can carry me to another town which had prosthetics

You never forget the first time you find out what the Beak Things are.

I remember the first time I was raided by bandits, about 20 hours into my first save. They swarmed my "outpost" and slaughtered 2/3 of my weakest men, leaving the last and strongest to die. A Holy Nation patrol spotted the aftermath and came over to bandage the dying man. As he woke up, the only thing he saw were his only 2 friends' dead bodies being eaten by dogs. At this point, I almost stopped playing for good because of how frustrated I was. Boy am I glad I heeded the advice of the Kenshi community and kept going.

Normal game reward: I just got a 4 str 4 stam leather belt. cool

Kenshi: My unconscious amputee partner is now awake. YES! I still have to carry her.

"If you build something be prepared to lose it and all the characters in it." This is the absolute most realest thing ever said... First time playing I build a single SHACK a little outside Squin by a Iron mine so I could make Iron plates... That single Shack became the sink hole of the world's woes... It was ransomed by Dust Bandits, attacked by Ninjas, Attacked by Hungry Bandits, and attacked by Dust Bandits all within 2 days of it being made...

I remember my first "life" in Kenshi, outside of that initial "They beatin my ass" moment.

Self insert. Saw video where someone was doing "Ninja" let's play that got me to buy the game, started doing similar stealth farming, not for any reason, but because it made sense for that to be my survival technique since I was terrible everywhere else. Spend a couple days mining, NPCs revive me when starving bandits beat me, all good. Garu pack goes wild on me for some reason, rips arm off, Tech Trader saves me. Continue mining, starting buying good enough gear to last awhile while getting beaten but also hire starting area NPCs. Go to Squinn, hire who I can, start mining outside of there to buy goods, get Shek bodyguard. Three men total, yay! More mining. Go back to the starting town. Dust Bandits have their way with us intimately. Left unconcious on the ground.

Bone Dogs. ended the game being turned into poop.

"Jack of all trades, master of none: But is often better than a master of one"

This perfectly describes why Kenshi is perhaps, one of the greatest video games ever made. My ideal game keeps it's systems simple, I don't want to be pressured every 5 minutes to babysit a colony, I don't need to be actively involved in the combat & I especially would prefer not to be forced down a certain path by a well-intentioned developer.

That last part is the thing that kills my enjoyment of many sandbox-type "make-your-own-adventure" games, like the way the original Fable was sold through it's advertising. I would've been about 10 when Morrowind came out on the OG Xbox and it was the closest thing I'd found to the type of game I wanted in feeling like an actual world that existed without me needing to be there, but what it lacked was the true freedom that is best offered by Kenshi.

Kenshi is hardcore, yet this man found a way to make it even more hardcore

7:08 My favorite part of the game. It just goes on without you. If you keep watching your body will be robbed and a dog might start eating you. Brilliant.

I wish I could relive my first Kenshi playthrough all over again, with no mods, completely blind. Spending hours mining copper in the Hub just to afford a single gohan, only to step outside the gate and get chased down by bandits every time. Then lying there, staring at my lifeless body, thinking, 'There’s no way I just died like that… right?'

@Rufuluss 1 year ago

Kenshi is the only game where you can flee from Fishmen and Skin Bandits on one side of the continent, only to find yourself hunted by cannibals on the other.

Kenshi is a story generator. Every playthrough is unique. You never know how the story will go, but you can always bet on it being interesting, even if it is occasionally anticlimactic because you got eaten by a random pack of dogs 10 minutes in.

Loving Kenshi is an abusive relationship. You play the game, get demolished, curse at the game and curse the developer for existing, swear to never play this trash game again. Then a few weeks later, you get that urge. You redownload the game and start he whole process over again. And the cycle repeats. I have nearly 1000 hours in this game, and I can easily put in another 1000. I haven't even been to all the locations on the map yet.

I knew this was the game for me on my very first play. I started in the Hub. Walked out the door, got attacked by hungry bandits, and knocked out. During recovery coma a group of bone dogs comes along and eats my characters. At that point I realized that Kenshi is more of an interactive story creator with game play elements and I've been hooked ever since.

Kenshi is one of the only games that actually lets you pick your own adventure. You really have no end goal, unless you make one for yourself.

I need kenshi 2 so badly, I'm nearing 10k hours on Kenshi. Learned all the lore possible, collected every book, item, armour piece, all on stands in the base like a museum. I've played almost every RP game style I can and seen too many world-states to remember (reactive world).

I NEED KENSHI 2

@egsgrhzzg9675 1 year ago

I’ll keep saying this (a good thing) but the unimportance of the player in kenshi STRONGLY reminds me of fallout 1, which is probably why I fell in love with kenshi since I loved the og fallout.
