We thoroughly tested how large a tire size we could fit on a Jimny Nomad (5-door) while keeping the vehicle height and fenders at stock.
Once again, Naoki Matsudo of GRACE, a shop in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture, assisted us with the tire change.
The tire sizes tested this time were:
195/80R15 (OEM size)
225/70R16 (YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR X-AT)
YOKOHAMA WHILL "RJ-D2 for JIMNY" 6 J-16 wheels
The difference in outer diameter (approx. 693mm → 721mm)
The changes in driving feel and appearance are also clearly compared. This is a challenge project that realistically documents the eternal question for Jimny owners: "How far can you go with the vehicle height?"
Tires Installed
Tires: 225/70R16 (YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR X-AT)
Wheels: YOKOHAMA WHILL "RJ-D2 for JIMNY" 6 J-16
Tire Replacement Partner

Verification Points
Allowable outer diameter for the Nomad's stock suspension
Fender clearance
Comparison of outer diameters between actual measurements and catalog values
Compatibility with stock wheels
Recommended for
Considering purchasing a Jimny/Nomad/Jimny 5-door
Considering upgrading tires
Wanting 16-inch wheels
Wanting to look cool without lifting
Wanting to understand the limitations of stock fenders
Wanting to compare the appearance of large-diameter tires
