I was happy when it was finally revealed that the Crimson Dragon was just a yugiohism for the god Quetzalcoatl. So much made sense. I believe it had been a theory for a long time but it was only relatively recently that it was confirmed.

34:55 Aporia couldn't activate the Trap card because the trigger is specifically "taking battle damage from an opponent's Synchro Monster." Up until this point the only damage Aporia took was from his own Level Canon.

12:35 Technically yes, as one of the un-dubbed mini arcs showcased a person who bought Trishula in a sealed package.

5D's was the season that really started the trend for characters having unique looking duel disks, even though for some people it was just a recolor of a base design.

Ultimaya Tzolkin is manga version of the Crimson Dragon, so its dofferent from anime Crimson D

33:23 basically Ultimayas are the manga version of the crimson dragon

I would recommend watching it subbed due to the Dub missing episodes in season 3 as well. Like Red Nova Dragon's proper debut.

RIP Alex Cimo

"If everyone is playing optimally, is it interesting?" Well I love Playmaker vs Ai (as in the last duel of the series) and that definitely felt optimal on both sides. I'd love TGS to cover this one someday.

I think the 3d models are really kool. Especially since they’re only used the protagonists, rivals, occasionally the best friend role, and the villains. Gives the monsters extra kool points and makes em more dynamic

Hey kip unfortunately it's with a heavy heart Alex cimo passed away.

What I love is that the English name is Scarlet Security, but in the Japanese, that card is called 'Crimson Hell Secure'. Thanks a lot localization.

This battle makes way more sense when you realize that it's not Aporia trying to win the duel, it's Aporia trying to Assert himself that his way of thinking was correct by Breaking Leo in the same way he was broken. Problem for Aporia is, Leo isn't who he is. Aporia believes Leo will crack and fall to Despair. This whole fight is just Aporia using Jack and Luna to crush Leo into submission by force. Of course he wouldn't kill Jack or Luna not only had he locked them down, he wanted to continue dangling their lives in front of Leo until he finally gave up. Leo just never gave up, he died before he gave up and proved that Aporia's way of thinking is wrong. You cannot become a machine no matter how hard you try; Aporia loses this duel because of his Humanity. He wanted someone to tell him what he did was correct so he could be free from the despair that consumed his entire lifetime and timeline.

Tzolkin and Bishbaalkin are exclusive to the manga version of 5Ds

@ 32:39
I can just imagine the visual of Majestic Dragon - effect negated - tuning Power Tool into Life Stream? Where the visual of the Majestic Dragon expanding over the Power Tool Dragon before changing into the Crimson Dragon that releases its heart and the rest of the animation is the same as in this duel.

Luna is particularly frustrating because they could have fixed it so easily by making her deck play off Leo's and vice versa since they're twins.

Your comment about how it wouldn’t be interesting if everyone was a perfect player and everything made me think of a fun idea. A Yugioh (or other card game) story where the person plays with a seemingly blank deck. Everytime they duel, things change, but it’s always cards that would be perfect to the situation. The issue? The person with this deck doesn’t know how to use it right. They sequence effects wrong or misunderstand them. Things like that. The journey is them learning the game

21:51 Funny you should mention that. Ever hear of the Japanese only Manga "Yu-Gi-Oh OCG Structures"?

The plot is about a group of friends playing Yu-Gi-Oh at the LGS level, making friends at said LGS and entering tournaments. The kicker is that everyone plays decks and cards that are actually relevant to the real life game, they get hit by Imperm and rely on the Plan B, they weigh the cost of taking the Maxx C challenge or not, the main character (who has been playing for fun mostly) learns about how different it is when you're playing to win for the sake of your team. Also to slightly correct myself, they aren't only playing the meta deck of the time the chapter was written, we see stuff like modern Galaxy-Eyes, Rokkets, even Clown Crew recently and Amazement. And if you're worried about the "long combo pacing" of the manga, they figured out a way to make that engaging by only showing the parts of the combo where both players are interacting with each other, then when either side ran out of hand traps/interactable options, it cuts to the final end field and player 2 starts his turn where we see the whole process of them trying to break player 1's board. It's a great read and I know a YouTube video to recommend if you're interested in reading it

TBH, Morphtronics were an upgraded Vehicroids.

I know that morphtronic isnt everyone's favorite but I did have a turbo morphtronic deck that had no problem summoning shooting quazar dragon. Mind you, that was back when it was only available as a SJ promo.
