I love that your mic is on a pipette. 😂 That made me laugh (and made my night somehow).

Time for the No Pen Left Behind Initiative.

Don’t throw out a pen without salvaging the nib unit and cartridge converter. You might need it in the future.

I have a trick to using pens that don’t get used. I pick a wild color ink. It doesn’t have to match the pen, just a crazy color like yellow, hot pink or lavender, and ink them up. Crazy colors give the pen a personality as being “fun”. This doesn’t work for pens with funky nibs though. Those need a nib swap to get used.

I'm so glad the algo showed me this today. I too am a pens-are-for-writing person. I have a larger collection now than I expected to build, but I don't want a pen if I can't use it, whether it's a simple plastic tube or a specialty urushi something or other. They were made for use; I'm gonna use them. That's what they're built for! That's what they want!  😄

You’re so funny Grace! Love watching your videos! You make my day! 😁❤️💕

1st time seeing you in my feed.  I co-sign the disappointment when a much-desired (& probably expensive) pen  doesn't perform as it should.
The main manufacturers in my pretty extensive 🖊 collection:  Monteverde, Conklin, Visconti and Lamy.  I have fountain, rollerball and ballpoint in all brands.  I too have made the commitment to purge my collection, with plans to sell some of the more expensive ones & gift others in order to penable folks.

Yes, I have definitely gotten rid of some fountain pens.  I had a Noodler’s Ahab Flex Fountain pen that was plastic and I just couldn’t get the hang of the flex nib.  I gave it to a friend.  I had some other pens that I was just not using that I gave away.  I’d rather someone else get use out of them than sit in my drawer and never see the light of day! 😃
I do keep some for sentimental reasons because they were gifts from a loved one, even though I don’t write with them.

I have a Faber Castell Hexo - it gets a ton of use because it’s so wet it can actually do justice to pale, wishy washy inks. If your FC Grip is a medium nib it might also be good for those pale and multi shading inks.

Throw away the Ferris Wheel Press pen!  Early on I bought 2 of their pens.  This is a great (and entertaining) video and full of useful information!  I have added an additional category to your video😉 - the Sell drawer!  I have several pens that others enjoy but do not.  So I have decided to sell them.  Why keep them when you can get money to buy a pen you will like!  So for me there are 3 categories: the ones I write with, the sentimental pens and the sale pens.  My Lamy 2000 is in the got to go drawer.  No more limbo for it!

I've been waiting for this one for sure !!

I too have some I don’t use but for different reasons the pens have become too heavy to hold and write for long periods. Also at 74 years of age arthritis has become a hindrance. The problem is I got several as gifts so I want to gift them to someone who will enjoy them as much as I have😢

Great video. Interestingly enough, my Pelikan M 800 is a pen I don't use much at all. Just doesn't turn me on.

I only have one Visconti Homo Sapiens pen and that one is enough. It writes beautifully and reliably and I don't feel any need for another one. I still have my Ferris Wheel Press Carousel pen and I had so much fun with that pen. I don't use it now. It's cleaned out and in my pen case but I will never discard that pen. The only pen that I truly regret is a Conklin Coronet. It has serious dry out issues but I still have it because when it can be coaxed into writing, it has a great nib for shimmer inks. I do make an effort to show some love to all my pens and it's videos like yours that remind me to do so.

What a great video! so true!

i buy fountain pens as travel souvenirs :(( if I can only magnet them on my refrigerator... hehehe

I recently reinked my safari's after awhile and I just love them still. Glad to use them again!

You give me the courage to sell or give away pens that I don’t write with. I love slim pens. I have small hands so I do not like chunky pens. Also, I prefer extra fine or fine nibs. I never buy anything else. On occasion I’ve been given pens that have medium nibs, which is disappointing, but I haven’t tried to swap out the nibs which is  something that I should do.

I really needed this video.  Thanks for making it!  I do have some pens that I will be getting rid of.  One I never reach for and it is a very cheep pen so I will definitely be getting rid of it.  One I got in a mystery box (gee why was it in a mystery box? Maybe they couldn’t sell it???) and I don’t like how it writes and feels in my hand, it will be given away.  I also have 3 pens that were gifts that I don’t use but will never get rid of.  They are beautiful pens and are a very expensive brand but just not my style anymore.

I think most of the people who like Preppys use them for pigment inks. They seal well and it kinda doesn't matter as much if they get destroyed. Yoink that FWP nib and throw it into a Jinhao 82.
