Anytime you do a live performance of Prince, you’ll get the same! He was an incredible live performer.💜

Prince said the meaning of purple rain was that it symbolized the end of the world, finding peace , and letting faith guide you through all the chaos. When there’s blood in the sky, red and blue makes purple. It was written for the movie, PURPLE RAIN, starring him. The first verse was about his father in the movie; the 2nd verse was about the girl he loved.

1985 in Syracuse New York is when he turned this song into total icon status. Yes, this solo was great but what he did live in Syracuse will totally shock you.
If you ever do that version have Kleenex handy.

Prince was a perfectionist in all aspects of his performance and the appearance of both himself and his band. His style and choice of clothing was legendary. There was a quote from one of his colleagues that said "Not only will Prince steal your girlfriend but he'll steal her clothes too.". After he passed, his bandmates from The Revolution reflected on his extreme OCD and his controlling nature when it came to the band. When someone joined the band they were required to stand in front of a mirror for hours a day and "practice" how they stood and how they walked. Prince would pay attention to every detail and it was rehearsed over and over and over to the point where band members said they would be out shopping and unconsciously stand or walk like they were on stage. He was very demanding, very controlling and very talented but it all paid off and after his death nobody came forward to say he was abusive or acted inappropriately

Prince always said,"When there's blood in the sky — red and blue = purple. Purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith guide you through the purple rain."

Prince was renowned for his seriously hypnotic eyes.

Prince had a 6 octave vocal range and a unique singing style, which is why it's hard for people to sing some of his songs.

Purple is the color of royalty, what he wants for the listener is in the interpretation of the color

In the movie, he dedicated this song to his father.
Most people think it's a romantic love song of regret, but it's familial love.

Prince has the largest vocal range out of any pop star including MJ and Freddie Mercury.
Purple Rain is heaven, God, cleansing of sin etc.

Prince explained the meaning of the song as follows: "When there's blood in the sky... red and blue = purple. Purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith/God guide you through the purple rain."

I was working security at the Rolling Stones stadium show at the Los Angeles Colosseum and Prince was the opening act in 1981. Mick Jagger was a fan, but no one had any idea who he was. He didn’t fit with the audience and was “boo’ed” off stage. That’s how worked the backstage gate at 16. A few years later after “Purple Rain” was released that he became wildly popular.

He was live Fantastic, every one of his live performances was absolutely unique for me, even one of the few that were better live than in the studio.Prince can sing very high and low notes.

Purple rain is a spiritual metaphor for finding salvation, letting your faith guide you, and being with the one you love when everything else is falling apart.

If you hear Prince say the elevator, that’s a metaphor for the devil dragging you down.
