Tony Tucker took two years off after losing to Mike Tyson, and won 14 straight fights before fighting Lewis. Pretty good. His wins include Oliver McCall and Orlin Norris (no matter what his brother said in the interview with Gary Norman here). Once again, I'll have to delete my download of this fight and grab THIS one instead. Thanks, Vintage.
People don't realise that Tony Tucker's right hand was fractured in 4 places when he fought Mike Tyson (it was damaged before the fight, and got worse during the fight). Tucker always said that without the hand injury he would have defeated Mike Tyson, and Tucker also said that the best opponents he ever faced were Buster Douglas and Lennox Lewis (which is ironic seeing as Douglas and Lewis both dominated and KO'd Mike Tyson).
If Mike Tyson was never sent to prison during this time I believe he would have defeated Lennox Lewis. Instead a past his prime Mike Tyson finally fought Lennox Lewis 10 years later in 2003.
Great stuff. Lewis suffered a an injury to his right hand in this fight which required surgery. This was the only time in Lewis' 44 fight career in which he suffered an injury. Remarkable.
