The last decent Power Girl comics was Jimmy Palmiotti's run around 2009. It was funny with some decent fan service that didn't take itself super serious.

DC enjoys destroying its own characters, sadly.

She tried to turn Kara in to American Chavez.

Now that we have a Helena Wayne Huntress, they need to get back together.

When I first discovered Power Girl a long way back, she hooked me straight away. The personality was so strong she outdid Supergirl. Right up to this current series the personality remained. This current series destroyed that making her wimpier than Supergirl. Her character did not need reinventing.

Whoever gets Power Girl next should follow three rules.
1. Keep her associated with the JSA.
2. Start her at an active power level that is just barely low enough that you can write stories about her.
3. Never ever down-power her, change her, or undermine her in any way. At all. Ever. Let her he the Power Girl she is. Writers have been Power Girl's kryptonite, and that should not be the case. As her writer, you should showcase her, not destabilize her identity.

I’ll never understand why they’d do this with a character like Power Girl, she has her set strong personality & they just totally change it into a ditsy mess.  And telling her not to read any comics about her at all is just the most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard.

A Power Girl comic should be the easiest thing in the world to pull off.  It's sad that DC is too proud/stupid to do it right.

Power Girl shouldn’t have been more than a 6 issue mini. Glad that this and Shazam were cancelled

I am a Power Girl fan, specifically Karen Starr. Her character as told by all of the previous writers was one of strength and compassion but also a person who didn't take foolishness from anyone. She would kick ass and ask questions after. Not always a good way of going through life but she always seemed to learn from her mistakes. I was excited when the first issues came out but the first sign that something was not right was when they changed her name, just to do it for no other reason than to be cute. As we are currently in "THE COVER AGE OF COMICS" for some time, there were some great covers from some of the best cover artist in the business on this series but sadly the interiors were subpar at best. I really tried to like this series but the writing was never above a two out of ten. Leah Williams has never written anything that I have enjoyed. Nothing against her but not understanding or even liking a character and then being invited to write for this character doesn't make for good comic books. So maybe she is not totally to blame but she has not shown a track record for success. I understand taking the job for the money or a challenge in itself but continuing to do this is only making her reputation worse. I read it up to issue #5 but there was nothing there for me to look forward to in the next issues. I love the great covers but I'm buying less and less of these hot covers with crappy interiors. The art was good but subpar writing doesn't lift a book in my opinion. Recently I saw a beautiful Exceptional X-Men cover by a favorite artist but I knew the interiors blew chucks so I passed on it. Seeing covers with model poses that have nothing to do with the interiors is sure getting old and tiresome. I don't begrudge the cover artist making a living but either get more creative or find out what the book you are making a cover for is about. Under the talent of a good writer the potential for a Power Girl series was there but sadly that was not to be this time. Overall I place the blame on the editors. Back in the day editors were chosen from the best writers at DC and Marvel. Now I have no idea how a person gets chosen to be an editor.

I've been a fan of Power Girl since her first apparance in All-Star Comics #58 (January 1976). When I was trying to get caught up with the current DCU a couple of years ago, she was one of my focus characters. I read all of the Earth 2 titles and Doomsday Clock. And it still makes no sense.

Telling someone to learn about her from her Wikipedia entry is a complete waste of time.

I think Leah Williams went into DC thinking she was a shoe in for writing Supergirl, then gave her Power Girl. So, she’s essentially writing her Supergirl story, projected onto PG. it’s damn shame too

Well...a series was cancelled, but it wasn't a Power Girl series...hey, let's introduce a character with a new civilian identity, new powers, totally new role, dramatically different personality, but call her Power Girl and then be surprised when there's not an audience.

How did it last 20 issues? Simply awful and I don’t remember it having any strong sales. They just need to bring her back to the strong, resilient character she always was with art that appropriately reflects it.

3:48 Why would you hire someone to write a character than tell them to ignore the history of the character?

One of the worst character assassinations that i have ever seen. Changed her name, job, personality everything. Power Girl in Name Only.
Really they need to inject some WWE DNA into Power Girl and Captain Marvel.

Decent runs used to get axed before 20 issues back in the 80s now carp like this with sales in the dozens carry in for ages ffs

You know as far as I'm concerned, her best run was when Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti wrote wrote the first twelve issues of her solo series from 2009-2010. Like seriously, it was really good.

Wes I think I'm probably the only one that's been faithfully reviewing Power Girl I'm deleted Williams Run when I tell you she completely don't understand the character at all and I'm just getting frustrated because once again it goes back to the Wonder Woman thing I've been trying to tell the audience I'm telling you Wonder Woman and Power Girl are great characters and then every time I pick up the comic books to review them and the audience is like are you sure they're good characters because this is trash. And it's just like it's the writers I swear like these characters are actually good characters It's just that the writers they got suck ass. And then my thing is changing Power Girls costume changing her identity which doesn't make any sense when she's already a multi-billionaire with star industry and her ties to the JSA the fact that Helena Wayne has been displaced in the main continuity now and she never showed up in Power Girls book Power Girl All of a sudden best friends with Steel 2 and omen and I'm like she's never even communicated with these characters before It's it's crazy then she kept second guessing herself she act like she didn't know how the world worked or anything It just didn't make any sense and then she supposed to be very intelligent and tech savvy and yet they made her stupid throughout this run. And then now that we're at the final five to six issues of the run they're like oh yeah let's kind of go back to her classic comic book look You should have started off with that costume in the first place. But you right it is nothing but a big bimbo story that it's not interesting it and then all of the tie-ins that they did with the character makes absolutely no logical sense and it felt like they were pushing Power Girl out of the during Superman family today they did all of this stuff to bring her into the Superman family just to push her out when there are major Superman events like it doesn't make any sense to me. And it's just like this is easy fix if Leah had just read the previous comic book run of Power Girl and and did just the bare minimum research she actually probably could have wrote a compelling Power Girl story but instead it's nothing but comedic bimbo nonsense and it betrays the character of Power Girl

The fact that this lasted for 20 issues make very sad and she problaby will jump for the next female characters maybe Carol now that she is back as a hero on Green latern.

Power Girl need a good writer that really understand her character. Leah Williams is a very boring writer. Supergirl is another Dc heroine that suffered with bad writting for years.
