Unboxing and brewing the AeroPress Steel against the Clear! I'd probably skip this one if you already own a Clear or you truly need a metal version/larger capacity of AeroPress. If you can't dial the Steel and Clear to taste the same/similar that is most definitely a skill issue. Also, brewing my Helm collab (anaerobic honey typica mejorado) and a really clean washed coffee from Love Letters Charming Coffees to see if there are any observable differences. In my experience, putting the plunger on top of the chamber while it sits makes it easier to knock over the whole brew LOL!

Great review. I love my Aeropress. The most versatile brewer. I get amazing coffee at the office, so many possible styles from high acidity “drip like” to condensed SOUP ; cold brew, etc. with a fairly simple workflow.

I’ve had my AP for about 12 yrs and it’s had pretty high use since it became my daily brewer for the better part of four years now. I don’t use scales or timers or temperature. I figured out early on the rough amount of coffee juat eyeballing it. I may not be consistent, but I have yet to have a bad coffee (I just drink straight black)

My Aeropress hasn't seen much use since the rapid brewer came out. Hoping they come out with a more premium glass/metal option (maybe with a thinner puck so I don't have to use as much coffee).

It's good that it tastes the same. For people that like the Aeropress but want metal, they probably would not want something that would force them to adjust their brew recipes to the get the same results. Still going to use the ORB over the Aeropress every time though, even though it's plastic.

Have you tried Lance's recent recipes for soup in the AP without any extra attachments? It's a bit more faff than the Oxo, but it allows lower doses at the same bed depth given that it's thinner.

Thought about getting it until I learned of the diameter difference, meaning I wouldn't be able to use my Fellow flow control cap for the OG Aeropress :/

Huh, it fits traditional parts, not XL parts? That's an odd choice (or at least it's an odd choice to make now instead of having done it with the Clear XL in the first place...)

It would be nice if Aeropress actually shipped these out to paying customers...I have yet to see one in the wild or even a review of someone who isn't an influencer...Many people including myself have ordered one well over a month ago and still have yet to receive or even be updated on shipping times. It is actually insanely terrible customer service...

I am going to take this AeroPress Steel Impressions video with a grain of salt only because you used the plastic flow control cap with the AeroPress Steel which defeats the whole purpose. Most of the people buying it want to reduce microplastics, so if you would have used the original stainless steel cap the results would have surprisingly been better. You will taste or notice the difference. They recommend using two scoops of coffee compared to one scoop of coffee with the original AeroPress. Compare the stainless steel scoop to the plastic scoop. The plastic scoop can hold more coffee, and adding two scoops of coffee to the stainless steel AeroPress creates a delicious, stronger, and flavorful cup of coffee. Honestly it has made me enjoy coffee more. I am revisiting all the old coffee I have not finished because of AeroPress Steel. It is bringing out flavors listed in the coffee flavor notes that I forgot or did not realize was there.

Im curious about durability with this thing, I REALLY want one but: Both my official Aeropress mugs, the shorter one with the wide handle and the taller one the Go Plus slots into, have inexplicably been crunched pretty badly. I assume a family member did something and is playing dumb about it.

Any idea how it compares in durability to the mugs? I don't want to buy it only for SOMEONE to do what they did to the mugs and, I don't know, drop a bowling ball on them or throw it across the room in a rage fit and stick me with the 200 dollar loss.
