Congratulations on 10k Yuriko-San, I am supporting you always until 100k and beyond ✌😀

Hello, Javon from American . I love listening to these videos blindly. I been studying Japanese for 2 years. I’m still not fluent but I do I will  go visit Japan. Also love your train content.

Interesting. Again drawing from my personal experience as a resident of Europe, the existence of a partner or spouse is usually not discussed if the context is not social (e.g. work, shopping, trading, etc...). However, in cultures that have a very strong social component and put great emphasis on social relations (say, for instance, all Mediterranean countries), it is considered very impolite to hide your status. Not making your status (single/with partner/legally a couple/married/etc...) clear in advance may lead to impolite invitations (e.g. a social affair where partners are supposed to be invited, but the host invites only you because you never mentioned the other person).
In addition to that, in said Mediterranean cultures, a very-low-level but still noticeable 'social flirting' is normal (almost expected in some cases), so you can imagine the potential chaos that a 'secret' partner may cause ... 😀 😉😅

Congratulations on 10k subs, Yurichan! Also, this video has been very enlighting. I've been wondering all this time if the Japanese woman I've been talking to really has a husband or not. LOL. When we started talking like three months ago, she told me she was married. And I believed her. But I've never seen a picture of her husband! She never shows him on her social media, so I've always found that very weird. But I think I understand now. Thank you. And even though these reasons you mentioned don't really make sense where I'm from, I do understand where they come from. In my country, it's quite the opposite. People here always show off their partner. It is weird if they don't. That's why I feel we're culturally so different. But it's interesting to see why!

what are the names of the 2 pieces you used as background music in the intro and outro.

(I tried translating into Japanese but the idioms didn't translate well at all).
I usually get suggestions where the the channel description states that the woman lives alone with no husband or boyfriend. If you subscribe to one channel with that description then the algorithm sends you lots more  that are similar. None are looking for romance. They all seem happy to be living alone.
In the UK people don't usually ask about personal things like income, religion or politics either. From what I've seen, on Girl Gone London's channel, this is the opposite of what happens in the USA. (As an aside. If you're ever in a pub Glasgow, Scotland, do NOT talk about football. Glasgow has two football teams who's fans have a very bitter rivalry. The police have to keep the two sets of fans apart when they play each other.) There was a riot at the weekend over a football match.
I don't think it's usual in the UK for someone you don't know well to ask if you're married or have a partner either.
Modesty is also greatly valued in the UK. We hate people who are 'Blowing their own trumpet'. (That's the idiom that didn't translate well). If someone wins a world championship they might say 'I didn't do too badly did I?'
It's the same here about people being more interested in relationships going badly too. People love to gossip.
The equivalent phrase to 空気 を 読む would be 'Reading between the lines'. I would say that in the UK women are far more likely to talk about relationships with each other while men will boast about their 'conquests' to other men. Even if they don't have any 'conquests' they'll make some up. Many men in the UK will hide the fact that they are married too, just like your really handsome co-worker. His wife/girlfriend will probably know all about his roving eyes.

Romance in the workplace can be a big problem, especially if one person is an ordinary worker and the other is a manager. There could be accusations of favouritism or that the manager is taking advantage of the ordinary worker, (Can you guess what the sexes of the ordinary worker and the manager are?)
Could it be that the reason younger people don't have public accounts be because of online bullying? It's a very big problem in the UK.
You won't see any photos or videos that show my face on my public accounts, nor will you read my real name. That's partly because that in the early days of social media (1995) it was always thought of as a bad idea to give away your personal details. There are some very strange people out there in Internetland that you would not want to know who you really are. (I've had death threats in the past.)
Kissing in public. That's rarely seen in the UK. There was one pub that I was a regular at where kissing was NOT allowed. The landlady threatened to ban people from going into her pub if she saw people kissing openly. I never saw my mam and dad kiss either. I would have been very embarrassed if I had seen them. 😳I doubt if they kissed in private either. 😆
People hiding part of their true selves is common here too. It's called 'Keeping yourself to yourself.'
Is Yuriko married or single? Does she have a boyfriend? That took me a while to work out. 😁
That was a long reply, but you did say you'd love to hear our thoughts. 😆

where is transcript?
