The Daily Wire spent 10s of millions of dollar to produce seven episodes of the Arthurian inspired The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of the Merlin. A boring show from people who seem to see are as a commodity and tool in the culture wars, the show lives up to its pedigree.

"A Drab Christian Game of Thrones" contrary to the Cool Christian Game of Thrones, aka The Chronicles of Narnia

I know we don't have control over the names we are assigned, but "Jeremy Boreing" is straight up trolling given the work he does

Obligatory "Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government" comment.

The fucking whiplash I got from hearing how the story tries to harken back to the christian-celtic hybrid elements of older Arthurian lore go right into "Also Merlin's mother is a princess from Atlantis" is sending me

the baby going over the waterfall looks like monty python 😂

It was a bold Strategy by the Production Team to Not Tell the Hair and Makeup Team that they are filming a medieval Fantasy series.

The woman who was doing naked bullfighting isn't allowed to be stronger than ANY man?

@thefez-cat 5 months ago

I love how the woman who previously displayed superhuman feats of strength and agility while jumping over bulls can't take some dork in a fight.

Basing something on Minoan culture and then removing all color from dresses and buildings is a CRIME.
What is with the literal whitewashing of antiquity in pop-culture? That myth has been busted long ago. We know they painted their statues and houses and wore bright colors. Its more accurate, it loosk better, its just a win-win-win.

This is the most "I watched it so you didn't have to" I've ever been looking forward to

Amazing that Boring didn't realize quite how gay it sounds to have one man sing at another man, then that second man immediately declare "you are the master of all men within the sound of your voice" & be willing to give up a kingdom at guy #1's say-so. Talk about Heated Rivalry: Medieval Edition.

TLDR: they turned it into a pureflix movie.

seriously thats it, 80% of the problems are because they transparently valued propagandising their alt-right fundamentalist evangelical Christianity, over any other aspect of making a show

Person from Northern England here: Brett Cooper's accents sounds like nothing ive heard before, and I mean that in the most offensive way possible

@RatGirlEmily 6 months ago (edited)

Me living in northern England
"Wow what an awful Irish accent"
"she's trying to do a Northern English accent"
"Oh......"

I was very confused because in the original story Ganielda was Merlin's SISTER.
I was like "?????"
They wanted to be very faithful to Game of Thrones, they even put siblings hooking up.

The baby floating in the river reminded me of the beginning of Kung Pow Enter the Fist where the baby rolls down a mountain for a absurdly long time, stops and gets picked up and cradled by a woman she says “what a cute baby.” then throws it down the mountain again.

Ahh, yes, alabaster Mediterraneans, the mark of a truly accurate portrayal.

@ablah949 6 months ago

I'm sorry but that fact that they made Atlantis the "Island of the Bull god" in reference to the likely origin of the myths (the Minoans) but they're all wearing classical Roman inspired clothing is killing me 😭😭 Like why?? Was the colourful Minoan clothing too "exotic" for them??

@mickleon6925 5 months ago

see, the hawk she adopts that later is forgotten by the plot is a reference to the hawk tua meme having a relatively short life span compared to other memes. the meme was primerely adopted by the maga tribe, so the inclusion of it in this series is canon to real life events. truly masterful storytelling
