Before Batman became the symbol of Gotham, the city was already drowning in corruption.
We break down the complete story of Gotham, beginning with the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne and the young detective who promises their son that he will uncover the truth: James Gordon.
Gordon quickly discovers that solving one murder means confronting an entire city built on corruption. Gotham’s police, politicians, wealthy families, and criminal organizations are all connected, while mob bosses Carmine Falcone and Sal Maroni fight for control of the streets. Caught between them is a seemingly insignificant criminal named Oswald Cobblepot, whose ruthless ambition will eventually transform him into the Penguin.
Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne begins investigating the secrets surrounding his parents’ deaths with Alfred Pennyworth by his side. Every discovery pulls Bruce deeper into Gotham’s hidden world and slowly shapes the person he will eventually become.
But Gotham’s criminals are changing too. Edward Nygma descends into the Riddler, Selina Kyle walks the line between thief and ally, Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska bring chaos to the city, and experiments at Indian Hill unleash threats unlike anything Gordon has faced before.
Across five seasons, gang wars become battles for the entire city, alliances constantly shift, and Gotham itself descends into chaos. Through every betrayal, death, resurrection, and power struggle, two destinies slowly take shape: James Gordon becoming Gotham’s protector and Bruce Wayne becoming something the city has never seen before.
This is the complete story of Gotham, from the night Bruce Wayne loses his parents to the moment the Dark Knight finally rises.
