The fact that Cinderella had the LOWEST budget of all the princess remakes is crazy to me

How they did not think to give Ariel more than two outfits for the entire movie is beyond me. I feel bad for the costume designer because more than likely they’re just following orders from higher ups.

its interesting that the actess for cinderella wore mostly silver/light gray for the press tours, as cinderellas dress in the original animation was silver

I think what's most disappointing about the Snow White dress is that they had the same designer as for Cinderella. We've seen what she's capable of, how gorgeous all of the costumes in Cinderella were and yet... this is the dress we got? Something had to have happened.

I cannot tell you how upset I was when I watched the live action little mermaid and Ariel didn’t come out to Eric with a sparkle dress😭 ANY of the outfits Hailey wore on press would have been perfect!

Yifei slaying the red carpet looks is not surprising if you see Chinese galas/ awards, celebrities always go all out so she and her team are used to performing under pressure

Ariel basically wearing that one blue dress for almost the entire film will never not make me annoyed. I literally sat in the film like "is she going to change now?"

I remember being utterly underwhelmed by Belle's yellow ballgown in the live action remake. Nothing really stood out as remarkable about it, and it had the misfortune of coming along two years after Cinderella's enchanting gown.

the main issue with Mulan’s hanfu is the overall inconsistency. We see Tang dynasty inspired hanfus but the hanfu Mulan wears is inspired by those from 300 years before the Tang dynasty began. While we don’t know the exact date of the film, the hanfus at the very least should stay consistent. Personally I really am not the biggest fan of the color pallet given to her since green is more associated with her army look while red is mainly for Shang.

Corsets also helped support the massive layers of petticoats and voluminous skirts! Emma should read a book on historical costumes sometime!

You said it perfectly, the live action Belle dress doesn't fit "Belle". Like in the animated movie, she was warm and lively and sweet and kind but this dress is not IT.

It's absolutely insane to me that the same designer did Cinderella and Snow White's costuming. There is no doubt in my mind that there was some kind of interference or directive from higher up for Snow White's costuming because there is no way Sandy Powell delivered one of the best dresses in cinema history to... whatever they were doing for poor Rachel.

The worst part about these terrible costumes is that Disney is inviting attacks to their POC actors. Rachel Zegler doesn't look like Snow White because of the terrible outfit, not her race. The bad designs feel malicious and makes the diversity feel forced and plastic. Giving people a legitimate reason to critique an actress' look enables racist remarks too. Do better Disney!!!
