I was your ground controller. Thanks for flying in. Been watching for years. 🙂

"I'm going to redeem the name of Air Florida"
Proceeds to almost stall at cruising altitude and then wing strike the landing 🤣🤣🤣

FAA will certainly be interested in that MD-11 sneaking into the departures

Staying true to the Air Florida name with a near tailstrike and a definite wingstrike combo!

These amateurs on vatsim are stellar!  All I can say is wow!  And the EPA will want to have a talk with your mechanic about that exhaust!

Oh man, the parallels to the Air Florida 90 crash. Using reverse thrusters for pushback, long line of planes waiting for takeoff, actually stalling while in the air... Ground being involved in the crash through his grandpa was the cherry on top. All you needed was the heavy snowy weather to be perfect.

The words "Rectum" and "Anus" weren't on my Airforceproud95 upload bingo card

Based on the exhaust fumes I'd say this plane is built on Saint Patrick's Day

I didn't realize the 727 ran on diesel.
AFP95 rolling coal on that takeoff

The rear stairs are infamous as D B Cooper's escape route after he hijacked a 727. He chose the aircraft precisely because he knew if he opened the rear stairs in flight he could parachute out. Since then all 727s have been equipped with a "Cooper vane" that detects whether the aircraft is on the ground and if not keeps the rear entrance locked.

That ATC was getting put to work 😭🤣

No hot air balloons :(

10:30 I'd go for cloaca, since it's technically a bird.

1:52 Sprit living up to its name and just floating like a spirit 😂

Dear god, never ignore "sink rate" calls in the 72!  A whole lot of them ended up tearing down approach lights before the dangers of the combination of low airspeed and spooled-down engines in it got through.  The engines were slow to spool up and people didn't catch on to it.

Tip for you if you continue to fly it:  the 727-200 like you're flying had a nasty habit of a sudden sink in the flare, resulting in thumping it in hard.  According to Len Morgan (who made captain on the 727), the solution to this is very counterintuitive--slightly reduce back pressure right before touchdown.  This caused the tail to raise, relative to the CG, and thus slowed the rate of descent of the main gear for a softer landing.  But don't expect to butter it often--the 72 was notable for short, stiff legs that usually got a thump, often with a slight skip, on landing.  As he put it, if you flew the approach perfectly on the numbers under ideal wind conditions, were landing at one of KPDX's glass-smooth runways, and the runway was wet from recent rain, you might get a greaser, but in general, the passengers will know you've arrived.

Just don't do what happened on my last ride on a 727-200 IRL, where we had a 30G50 crosswind component, felt unstabilized all the way through the approach, crossed the fence in at least a 20-degree right bank (I couldn't see any sky out my window on the right side), and dropped it in hard enough that it sprung loose several of the oxygen masks.  That one was... pleasant.  (I know the crosswind numbers because I did see one of the pilots while leaving the airplane, and just asked him, "Nasty crosswind today, huh?" and he just replied "30G50.")

8:50 did you give your plane Taco Bell cuz he letting out the gas

I was fully expecting a reenactment of the D.B. Cooper jump when I saw the 727.

You got my hopes up with a peek at the stairs.

groundpound69 is back ladies and gents

DB Cooper approves of the rear departure stairs!

@10:50  Almost...almost lived up to the Air Florida reputation
