The biggest deathbed regret is not having the courage to live on your own terms. I don’t want that to be me. I’m old enough to see the pattern, and still young enough to take my life back.

I'm 34 and living in Iran, in the Middle East. I don't have a decent job, and barely surviving. I wish my peers and I could say the same thing about life. Economic pressure and the coat of living made our choices very limited. Right now, anyone with a 9-5 job is considered a king. Because of how unstable and uncertain the situation is. I'm happy for you and the path you have chosen. Hope things will get better soon here in Iran too. My people truly deserve a normal life without immense stress.

Here in Poland, people take out 30-year loans to build a house or buy an apartment—it’s crazy; you spend your whole life as a slave, and by the time you finally pay it off, you die.

Totally hear you. After 12 years at Novo Nordisk I walked away — I wasn't living the life I wanted. Moved to Cape Town, started a business, and now split my time between Copenhagen and Cape Town. Honestly? Best life. That said, I think it's important to be honest about this — courage is real, but so is circumstance. Not everyone has this option. People with kids, mortgages, dependants — the calculus is completely different. What looks like bravery from the outside is sometimes just freedom from certain obligations. Both things can be true.

I'm 36 too, I used to listen others long time ago too. Now I'm done with what my parents and others say about 9 to 5 jobs and whatever their expectations are, now I'm doing whatever I want and I decide on my own life. Thanks for sharing your story!

The problem is they make every alternative illegal or very hard to obtain. They want us totally dependent on them for everything, especially for food and energy.
My father told us so many times how he would do all the things he always wanted to do once he retires from his job. He died before he retired in a accident, that's when i realized i better live life to the fullest each and every day.

Few people are sufficiently introspective enough to question their life choices. As a result, they drift through life, things just happening. Some things are good, some things not so good. Knowing what makes you happy, and knowing what goals feel true to you, is a step towards a fulfilling life.

I walked away at 34...I'm 44 now. Zero regrets and I wake up everyday feeling blessed! Good luck everyone!🙌🙏✌

Same here in USA I walked away and retired early at 41. I was done. I saw the writing on the wall and i didnt want to be a corporate slave for a billion dollar company anymore. Its limiting and life draining. 90% of the population is just conditioned free range slaves they dont know anything else. Its sad. Life is so much better when you build it to be all on your terms not your employers
