I'm tired of the phrase 'militant atheists'. They are writing books and giving lectures, sitting on discussion panels. None are running around yelling 'praise atheism' while carrying AK47's or grenades, dressed in military gear.
Amusing listening to the Godsquad trying to convince themselves and others that they have a 'supernatural ' friend, and that the Universe was created just for them without a shread of evidence for their beliefs.
I have no issues with believing in God as in the being that created this universe, the problem is when religion assert that God has told them to do such and such in his name, without any evidence to back it up beyond books written thousands of years ago filled with ideas and thoughts that we know to be wrong and untrue.
Did I hear the Christian at about 41:30 imply that he is loved unconditionally by Jesus Christ? The "love" of the god of the Bible is actually quite conditional. This conditional nature of god's love is where the doctrine of hell finds its foundation.
It's actually quite easy. Believing in god is irrational because there isn't a shred of evidence for one. The only rational position is weak atheism (a lack of belief). Also, the argument about the origin of the universe is pointless... the only intellectually honest answer is that we don't know and people shouldn't be afraid of admitting that. Sticking a god in there isn't even a hypothesis, because you'd need to prove the possibility of god first.
Adam Deen: "The overwhelming evidence is on the side of god". "When scientists examine the universe we are convinced that the explanation of the universe is not inside the universe"
Wrong.
