A few of my favorite things in Superior in real life:
1- over in the Allouez neighborhood, which is where Edmund Fitzgerald departed from, the conveyor that runs over 53 at 39th Ave to the ore docks; you can get a pretty good view on street view but it's an interesting and noteworthy piece of industrial infrastructure as you come into town from that side. Could be neat to have something similar even if it's in a different place.
2- the Richard Bong Veterans Museum; the top US fighter ace of all time was from the Superior area, and so there's a nice little WWII museum!
3- of course, and probably most importantly for a build like this, Barker's Island. It has SS Meteor, the last whaleback, which is a museum ship; and there's also a nice marina, tavern, boat sales, and a little bougie neighborhood at the end. I'd love to see your take on a similar vibe, whether it ends up on the Island or on one of the old industrial piers- or both! Maybe there's a whole little up-and-coming redeveloped waterfront area.
Other east end details like something akin to the Fairlawn Mansion could definitely be worked in too.
