Since November 1, 2002, no one knew anything about the whereabouts of Carmen Rus, a 68-year-old former madam and prostitute, a resident of Esplugues. According to her only son, Enrique Rus, the woman was admitted to a nursing home. But it was not true. The police found the woman's body covered in quicklime and lying on the floor of her room at their home, after the son confessed to the officers that he had murdered her. The corpse —almost mummified— had been there for 15 months.
