The Barcelona Urban Police deploys a coordinated operation through its specialized units to protect the environment, public order and citizen safety from the Collserola forest mass to the city's coastline.

In the mountains, the experience of more than 50 years of forest patrolling allows officers to act quickly in emergency situations, such as in the recent fire in Nou Barris that burned more than 50 hectares, facilitating access for firefighters, geolocating medical emergencies and preventing risks by controlling illegal waste dumping and applying health restrictions.

At the same time, the beach section combats theft and violent crime on the sand during the summer season, in addition to providing an emergency "theft kit" to victims who are left without belongings. The unit also ensures public health by controlling the illegal street vending of drinks and the unauthorized rental of umbrellas.

Surveillance extends to the sea using boats that guarantee the safety of bathers and prevent risky actions on the breakwaters, while the diving section collaborates in the collection of waste from the seabed. The body's action is complemented by units specialized in the protection of vulnerable groups, such as attention to gender violence and the fight against trafficking and sexual exploitation throughout the city.
