Synopsis: Money System presents serious research and verifiable evidence about our economic and financial system. This is the first documentary to address this topic from a British perspective and explains the inner workings of central banks and the process of money creation. When money drives almost all activity on the planet, it is essential that we understand it. However, simple questions such as: Where does money come from? Who creates it? Who decides how it is used are often overlooked? And what does this mean for the millions of ordinary people who suffer when the monetary and financial system breaks down? Produced by Queuepolitely, with contributions from Ben Dyson of Positive Money, Josh Ryan-Collins of The New Economics Foundation, Ann Pettifor, HBOS whistleblower Paul Moore, Simon Dixon of Bank to the Future, and Nick Dearden of the Jubilee Debt Campaign.
Reviews:
"Simple facts explained simply and clearly: the cornerstone of economics is how money is created. And, most importantly, debt is explained: that there is no economy without debt. Debt is at the core. It's about debt control, and who "owns" the debts.
Thus, debt is as important a concept as money creation. And it's not at all about the 3% of physical currency and paper money in the system; it's essentially about the 97%+% of "virtual" money that is sent back and forth. And about a specific type of money that only exists and can only be used with, say, the Bank of England—and nowhere else.
A complicated system that evolved from simple facts when the law decided to prohibit private banks from issuing their own paper money and coins in the 19th century.
But somehow, and it's no mystery, private banks continue to issue money (albeit not their own physical banknotes and coins).
And that is, in essence, what this is all about." This documentary deals with the how, the when, and the why.
A 10-star documentary if the narrator's voice hadn't been mixed in so superficially (often too difficult to understand; a shame): it deserves clear, direct sound, given that the documentary itself is profoundly clear. - Written by artiszt on IMDb.com
