Tech Giants - In this documentary, we tell the stories of business leaders who have changed the world in various ways.
00:00 Jeff Bezos
We present the profile of Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon. Bezos left a job at a Wall Street firm to found the online bookstore with initial investment from his parents. The company went public in 1997 and, despite detractors and the dot-com bubble burst, has managed to transform the way the United States buys consumer goods.
23:46 Reed Hastings
Reed Hastings transformed the way we watch movies and television—twice. In 1997, this Californian entrepreneur combined DVDs and the U.S. Postal Service to create Netflix, the first online DVD rental business. Eight years later, he reinvented his own company with a new service: streaming movies and TV shows directly over the internet.
47:32 Richard Branson
Profile of Virgin Group founder and chairman Richard Branson. This covers his early entrepreneurial ventures and the eventual development of Virgin Records. He eventually uses the profits from his record business to create Virgin Atlantic Airways. He survives a balloon crash and a smear campaign by British Airways. Later, he reaches new heights with Virgin Mobile and is knighted.
1:11:01 Larry Ellison
We follow Larry Ellison from his early days in Chicago, through the founding of the multi-billion-dollar software company, to his rise as the highest-paid executive of the last decade, with total compensation of $1.84 billion.
