"We'll never be sick, we won't get any older, and we won't die." Apparently, Wilford Brimley was only in his mid 50's when he played senior citizen Ben, and they had to age him up. Please react to "Batteries not Included" , another 80's Sci Fi movie involving aliens, also starring Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, again as a real life married couple portraying an elderly married couple.

Holy crap, Jen! Nobody, but nobody reacts to this wonderful movie. Saw it as a kid, then again on TV years later. Sweet, sweet movie. Nice job picking your movies. :)

Cocoon is what you would call a "feel good movie."

Dolphins: So long, and thanks for all the fish.

"If this is foreplay, I'm a dead man". One of the greatest lines EVER!!

Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn were an actual couple, fron 1942 until her death in 1994.

"they're like goonies if the goonies were old people"... is a reference you couldn't make unless you watched a bunch of movies. ;-)

Gwen Verdon , The Red Head , could dance ,in fact she was one of the Greatest Dancers of her generation , her ex-husband Bob Fossi was one of the greatest Chorographers of all time. So yea she can dance !!!!!!

Upon his passing, Wilford Brimley's mustache was found to contain three Philippino fishermen, still in their boat.

The moment where Bernie tries to revive Rose is heart breaking even after 40 years. Even though it upset me many times as a child it was my favourite, standout moment.

Hi Jen. The pretty alien girl (Kitty) was played by Tahnee Welch, daughter of the late Raquel Welch. She’s presently 63, never married and no children.

I was thirty when this film came out, and like you I was amused at the antics of the old folks. Now I'm 70, my 81 year old girlfriend lives in a retirement community, we met while ballroom dancing and we have lots of fun, in and out of bed. What goes around comes around. The younger generation of my family sees me as the cool, weird uncle, the one who arrives at a Gilbert & Sullivan recital on a Harley. My 20-something nephew says I have "mad flow", whatever that is.

"Cocoon: The Return" is one of those rare sequels that actually works for the most part. Most of the original cast came back for it, though Brian Dennehy (Walter) had only a cameo. It was not a theatrical success, but I think the story remains great. It takes place 5 years after the original, and Courtney Cox plays a scientist who discovers one of the cocoons, emotionally bonding with the Anterean inside of it.

I forgot how much I love this movie.

This was filmed in St. Pete, Fl. The pool was in the home of a friend I went to middle school with, and yes, it really was that cool.

I honestly know that SO Many young reactors, have not seen this film. More need to react to this film. This, Batteries Not Included, and Flight of the navigator. 80s PURE SUPERNATURAL GEMS!

We do have a sequel Cocoon:The Return, Steve Guttenberg is back, along with some of the original cast along with a ‘Friends’ cast member.

The girl alien is Tahnee Welch, daughter of iconic actress and beauty icon Raquel Welch. If you’ve seen Shawshank Redemption, Racquel was the last pin up girl that Andy had on his wall. 😊

Cocoon was a movie smash hit. People, especially the older folks, loved it and saw it in droves. The cast was a who's-who of the 40s, 50s, & 60s actors/actresses. It became a cable daytime favorite for HBO. It really captured a feeling at the time. Cancer, HIV, liver disease, heart ailments, etc. were rampant among the older generation and medicine hadn’t been half of what we can do today. Getting old was harder back then.
