I highly recommend the movie "Short Circuit" from 1986. I think You would love it.

The biggest 80s reference is probably that Max, even though he's credited as Paul Mall, is actually Paul Reubens, aka Pee-wee Herman himself.

Such an underrated film. It kind of answers the question "What if Elliot had gone with ET?"

A few weeks ago, I asked my nephews if they had seen this movie and they replied in unison "Compliance." I never felt prouder to be an uncle.

I am 42, and I can proudly say I still watch this movie. It was the movie that got me interested in Sci-Fi.

Cool fact: They couldn't do the stairs animation in CG so it was actually stop-motion animation.

"Ladies and gentlemen: Alan Silvestri and his Synclavier!" What an absolute bop of a soundtrack 😍

There wasn't a kid alive who didn't want this ship after seeing the movie! Classic! 😃😊

There is another SciFi from the 80s I loved as a kid called "inner space". Don't think I've seen it since then so I don't know if it holds up, but I have fond memories of it.

26:19 "These are all, like, commercials and '80s things, right? That the computer's talking in?" Not the 1980s; the 1970s. They're from the kid's mind, and he lived through about 1966 to 1978 before jumping to 1986.

You don't know Twisted Sister? We're not gonna take it.

This is legitimately one of my favorite movies! It's not a technical masterpiece, but it's so fun and well told.

Had this on VHS as a child along with Space Camp (1986). Loved both of them.

I saw this movie countless times as a kid in the 80s. The soundtrack is unforgettable. I don’t know if this ever could be remade with today’s technology with the same magical feeling
