Someone said Cry For Me is "Evil ABBA" and I 100% agree lol

Your point about “Cry For Me” feeling like it already existed in the universe and they were just the ones who were able to materialize it is so beautiful.

At its core, this album just feels like a love story between two musicians for the music itself. Its so free and inspiring and Im so glad you love it as much as I do.

You're right, Kevin straight up lost his mind when he heard Death and Romance.

Before this album came out they were at around 900k monthly listeners which just shows the impact this album has had for them. Been a fan of MagBay for 2 and a bit years now and I love seeing them get so much recognition for this album :)

Amazing reaction as always! AOTY

Every reaction video I’ve seen for this album consists of people just being at a complete loss for words. Exactly how I felt the first time I heard it

AOTY, AOTD

As someone who’s been incredibly obsessed since their EP “A Little Rhythm a Wicked Feeling” as well as their debut it’s crazy to see how much flowers they’ve been getting. Just from music nerds, reactors, and all over niche corners of the internet. This album deserves it so much

Fun trivia: an imaginal disc (with a c) is basically these parts of an insect larva that become the outer parts of an adult insect after metamorphosis. I like to think this album has a general theme of "parts of our youth that stick with us and form who we are as adults." Their other record Mercurial World has a general metamorphosis theme

Magdalena Bay helped produce a lot of “Let’s Start Here” by Lil Yachty, including the sample from “running out of time” they reprise in “Love is Everywhere

Watching T.V. is like cheating in life, a song that just send straight dopamine through all your sensorial receptors.

All the album is amaizing and true art in a society full of commercial, dull and emotionless songs

Definitely check out their first album, Mercurial World. They are geniuses! Started off in a prog rock band, so a lot of their songs have that proggy influence. Matt absolutely idolized Rush, so glad you could immediately identify the inspiration in Tunnel Vision!

Superexperimental instrumentals, smooth soothing breathy vocals, lyrics are emotinal and philosophical. INSTANT CLASSIC

Killing Time, Image, Death and Romance, Vampire in the Corner, Love is Everywhere, and Cry for Me are legendary level songs like full-stop game changers (Dropout ™️). 2024 has truly given us music that will change the landscape of genres like pop. Landmark year for music IMO. Mag Bay and Charli xcx ruling the world fr

13:18 you know it’s good music when you close your eyes on first listen and just absorb the sound

The fade-out on cry for me is so interesting to me cause it actually adds to the narrative to the track.
The song has themes of moving on and leaving something behind, and the fade-out feels like the person who is being sung about is doing exactly that

Someone get Jon to review Ethel Cain’s album “Preacher’s Daughter”, it’s so amazing 😭😭😭

Thrilled you're checking this out. I'm usually not into this type of pop but this duo is just insane. They're so good live and their last album mercurial world was a banger too.
