Your childhood body had abilities that changed as you grew. Things your body can only do before age 10 sounds like a built-in deadline, but development is messier than a birthday switch. Your younger brain was still tuning itself to the world. Some early advantages fade; others change rather than disappear.

Childhood development, brain plasticity and sensitive periods help explain why your early years matter. Experience shapes developing circuits, and the timing of that experience can affect what comes easily later. Growing up changes how your brain learns and responds to its surroundings, but an early advantage is not the same as an ability being permanently deleted. The interesting part is the gap between a childhood window and a universal cutoff. Keep that distinction in mind whenever an impressive claim comes with an expiration date.

Age 10 is not a universal cutoff. Development varies between people and abilities. This is educational, not a substitute for medical advice.
