I do strongman but am kinda doing the opposite and adding swimming. Cool to see the overlap I know Eddie Hall was a super high level swimmer. So cool to see the relationship
I have been over training I found out when I had to skip 3 days of working because of family, when I finely got back in the pool and my time in the 500 dropped a full minuet.
Form over speed. Rushing through weight exercise is undercut by a focus on speed. Causes all sorts of issues. I've done weight work prior to swimming back in the day. Which was overtraining but I never made the weights about speed work. I was plenty fast in the water even at crusing. I would do two miles in under an hour. It was just "normal." Wasn't focused on speed and could hammer that hour speed with additional pacing. Never had a swim lesson or coach either.
I have a question. In the video you said, that you additionally need to do explosive/fast stuff in the gym to be faster in the water. But aren’t explosive/fast sprints in the water replace those reps? Because most of the swimmers do already strength training before hitting the pool. Cam McEvoy for example trains like this.
Great! The simplicity and editing of the video are fantastic! Very lucky for swimming enthusiasts. Excuse me, we have a question: you usually do your swimming session first and then your gym session. How do you manage to avoid any interference between the two? I'm thinking that perhaps you should wait 4-6 hours between them to avoid fatigue and allow both activities to benefit (assuming you have the time, of course). Is this the case? Or is it not scientifically proven? If you could give me your opinion on why you schedule it this way and not the other way around, I would appreciate it. I understand it's to arrive fresh for your main sport, but I have some doubts about what you mentioned. Best regards and good luck!
