As third-year junior high school students face the summer of career choices, a major factor is the effective elimination of high school tuition fees, which began in April without income restrictions. How is this elimination of tuition affecting career paths, household finances, and schools? Is it true that private schools are benefiting and students are moving away from public schools? We interviewed people at public and private school fairs to gather firsthand information.

What are the future aspirations of public high schools that, despite consistently under-enrolled, are striving to compete with private schools, and those that, while popular for their science and humanities programs, are also facing a sense of crisis and working hard to overcome it? We also interviewed families struggling to save money while facing "hidden educational expenses," and students grappling with career choices. Furthermore, we explored the closure of a private high school that was a sports powerhouse and participated in the Koshien baseball tournament last year. What were the reasons behind this closure? The savings from free high school education are even impacting the junior high school entrance exam scene. We heard firsthand from parents at cram schools, and what are the dreams of the children? The goal of making education free is to prevent people from giving up their dreams because of money. However, we investigated the "new inequalities" that are beginning to emerge in the shadows of this initiative.
