I always found it funny how Papyrus is wearing his dead brother's jacket. It's like he's sad Sans is dead and all, but at the same time, he can't let such a cool jacket go to waste.

i like how the main reason Disbelief happens is because sans "Remembers youre genocides "

13:56 crazy thing is that in this fangame if you cry in phase 3 papyrus will be pity about you, but if you cry in phase 2 and then cry in phase 3 he'll say something like "DO YOU JUST DO THAT ALL THE TIME"

1:19 I can’t believe this animation predicted the “I remember you’re genocides” meme

Something I really like about phase 3 is how sans and Undyne personalities are greatly exaggerated because of how papyrus views them with sans being extra lazy and Undyne being invulnerable. I feel like atleast for me it makes up for the fact Papyrus should have no way of using attacks like sans' gaster blasters or Undyne's spears and her ability to turn your soul green.

I think the reason why Papyrus gets so mad in phase two is because when you consider the backstory of how he sees how you kill all of his friends, it all builds up to when you actually hit him, that's when he realizes that there's no redeeming you and that's why he gets angry.

I honestly think disbelief papyrus is a pretty cool concept
Papyrus kinda makes it clear later on that the reason he was not acting like himself for the last 3 phases is majnly because he was trying to do  sans or undyne way rather than his own.
This is probably why he acts so different in phase 2 and phase 3 until it's revealed that it was all an act because no matter how hard he tries, he really can't stop believing in you.

Disbelief Papyrus was one of those fangames that was a huge hit back then, as not many fangames were made back then. But now 7 years later, there's a whole lot more for the fangame side of Undertale, raising the bar for how good a fangame is. Which left Disbelief Papyrus as a relic of the past.

"Sans I have returned with the milk-oh god why am I Sans" -- Papyrus Disbelspleef

You have to understand, this was miles ahead of it's time. Imagine a fangame you dislike nowadays, like azzys dustrust. How would the community react if it was released in 2015

Perhaps this fangame aint perfect , but lets be honest , its way better than the ton of Sand undertable edgy and dumbly difficults battles one , and beside , it got soul and is one of the pillars of undertale fangame. So Im thankfull it exist ^^.

I don't know about the other Disbelief AUs, but I always felt as if the animation by flamesatgames had a stark sense of reality compared to Sans's nonchalance in the original Genocide Route. Although he does say some cryptic things, Sans never really makes the player face the impact they've had on the Underground--and maintains an unaffected, jokey attitude during the battle. I don't even think he pulls out the "Dirty Brother Killer" card (that only happens in the neutral routes where Pap dies iirc),

But Disbelief!Papyrus is the total opposite; he's a mess. When we battle him, he is saddened, desperate, vengeful, insane but most of all, conflicted. He fights us not even being sure if he wants to or not--and in fact, hints are there that tell us it might've not even been his choice. And I think this works so well for someone like Papyrus (but it wouldn't for Sans) because he's just that honest with his own feelings. He can't pretend like all of his friends dying is no big deal like Sans can. And so the way Sans and Undyne's deaths affect him to the point of fighting, yet his own instincts to forgive and believe in the human make him repeatedly stop himself feels indeed raw and emotional, but also faithful to his character in a way that isn't caricatural/exaggerated.

I mean, at the same time it’s impressive he was even able to KEEP his morals, I mean seriously, you killed his friends, his only family and didn’t even regret anything, papyrus isn’t a saint that will keep his morals after you kill everyone he knows and loves, leaving nothing of them but dust, I think that’s something you forgot, you only took into consideration the fight, nothing else.

Anything wrong with the fangame is entirely excused by the fact that it's the Great Papyrus

the fangame might have story flaws but i dont really care the achievement and secrets are so cool and have so much personality (im talking about the fanmade version)

Is no one gonna talk about how he put that one crappy remakes footage in the background during phase 4?

19:45 "It references things from Papyrus's past" WHY WOULD YOU PUT THE MEME VERSION HERE THEN?????

everytime i read or hear the word "disbelief" i get reminded of this STUPID yet GLORIOUS thing

honestly i'd say disbelief still holds up, it isn't as fanon as most papyrus AUs and it mostly keeps to canon with how papyrus, ultimately, still believes in you even during his death

also, disbelief papyrus's renditions of sans and undyne predicted the fanon vs canon memes of 2020 and beyond. like he literally flanderizes his own friends and family, that's kind of funny to me (i still like how he made sans ACTUALLY force you to eat his attack by holding you down for an extended period of time, and i like how it actually seems to strain sans when he does so, explaining why sans doesn't just do this in his genocide fight)

I like to think that the reason why he acts that way in phase 2 is because he's now trying to be something he's not; I don't think his sudden change in mindset is entirely genuine
