There used to be 5 funicular cliff lifts in Scarborough 2 in the North Bay and 3 in the South Bay. The circle you could see from Spa Bridge is now a car park but in Victorian times it was an aquarium...When I was a kid I used to call it Tracy Island 😆🤦🏼‍♀️

I may be a biased Yorkshireman but Scarborough is the prettiest resort in the country so I’m pleased you really enjoyed the place Stephen, despite there not being much open on the sea front. You really have to visit in summer when all the gardens are in bloom and everything’s open, the kids are enjoying the beach and the fishermen are bringing in the catch of the day! It’s so quintessentially English it makes your heart ache!❤️😍🥰
Thanks again for your tour.👍🏼

This was one of your best videos, Steve.  Beautiful atmosphere, interesting buildings of all types.  I bet your legs are weary after all that walking and hundreds of stairs.  Absolutely  loved it!!!

I last visited Scarborough in July 1985, courtesy of the Territorial Army, and barracks left a lot to be desired. This was in sharp contrast to the town and it's residents, which were lovely, and I would have described it then as a world class resort, with something for all.

I love Bridlington and Scarborough 👍

Thanks so much for that recording you must be very fit . We stayed at the Norbreck on north bay near the church yard and there’s Peasholm park at north bay you will have to go back. One of the last holidays we had before my precious husband died so good to see it all again blessings to you Stephen from Durham

Thanks for your hard work in showing us around, hope you enjoyed your visit Stephen. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi mate another cracking upload. I visit Blackpool every September with the wife. In my youth I was 16 1979 I visited  Scarborough with my mates drove down took 7 hrs lol whooosh where have all the years went. Saw Freddie Starr at the Floral Halls Theatre I think it’s demolished now the years fly by thanks for another cracking video 👍. Malcolm Kerr . Beith North Ayrshire . Scotland

The council look after this side brilliantly. Keep going

Brings back some very happy memories when hubby and I stayed in Scarborough. I seem to remember there was a tramway of some kind next to the shore, but couldn't quite make out if it was still there on your video. Shame it was such a dull day, I feel it would have brought more life to it if it had been sunny. Thanks for doing this for us.

Absolutely loved this. Never been to Scarborough and this has made me want to visit. Loved the buildings and seems to have a nice vibe, quite Victorian. Really well presented, thanks 😀

Knackering just watching Stephen! The sweep of the North Bay looks stunning! Certainly shades of Whitby here too. A town that is fairy spread out, lots to explore, and Peasholm Park pretty, illuminated at night to my recollection.

I'm in Scarborough now for the weekend with my daughter and granddaughter.  😊

You can't beat Scarborough. It's my favourite British seaside resort.

The Structure on the marine drive used to be a toll gate.

Scarborough was seen as posh back in the day. It's where the better off went on holiday. The working class went to Blackpool or Morecambe (Bradford on sea) as it was known.
