This is a psychiatrist's consultation clinic. Today, in conjunction with my collaborative video with Maruyama Gonzales, I will be discussing the same topic. Today, I will be commenting on the Sapporo Susukino Hotel Murder Case from a psychiatrist's perspective.

The reason I am covering this case is not to pursue gossip or trending news, but to deeply consider the pathology of families with hikikomori children. Hikikomori is an extremely difficult issue, and crimes like this can occur when close relationships with family members go sour. I created this video to offer a helping hand.

To summarize the incident, last July, 30-year-old Tamura Luna murdered a man in his 60s in Susukino, Sapporo. This case was not unique, and it is highly likely that the murder was motivated by personal feelings or resentment. However, what is noteworthy is that Tamura brought the man's body home, and that his parents condoned his actions, assisting him in playing with the body and filming it.

This was an extremely abnormal act that shocked the public. Looking at online news reports and comment sections, it seems that many people felt fear and anxiety. In an attempt to cope with this fear, some people viewed Tamura's family as abnormal, with the father, a psychiatrist, also behind this.

I myself sometimes visit the homes of hikikomori during my house calls, and the family pathologies I see there are often very similarities. For example, I once visited a family where a woman in her 20s had become a hikikomori and was supporting herself through prostitution. In such families, the family members often appear abnormally calm, and the group can become very pathological.

Psychologist Wilfred Bion classifies pathological groups into three categories: groups that follow a false leader, groups that oppose a common enemy, and groups that wait for a savior. It's highly likely that Tamura's family had become a pathological group with Tamura as its leader.

To dismantle such pathological groups, it's important to have others' perspectives. Supporters need to be persistent and make an effort to normalize abnormal group dynamics. Even if they refuse, it's important to continue intervening while maintaining relationships.

What we should learn from this incident is that social withdrawal, school refusal, and inappropriate interpersonal relationships can create extremely dangerous situations. As advocates, we must continue to be persistent in our support, providing support to prevent families from becoming pathological groups.

As a psychiatrist, I will continue to tackle these issues, so I appreciate your continued support. Today, I spoke about family pathology through the Sapporo Susukino Hotel Murder Case. Thank you for watching.
