Watching Bird back in the day was like watching a wizard.  His awareness was amazing, and he was deceptively quick.

6'10   step back jumper. Knows where everybody is on the court

Love the fact that he was so unselfish. He never cared about making the shot himself unless he knew he could in which case he always did. Dude never hesitated to pass the rock around. Didn't matter who was getting points so long as they were getting points and so long as teams were focused on shutting him down that opened up room for a LOT of assists.

he had so many buzzer beating shots that went in  over the years it was literally epic.

Couldn't jump high, couldn't run fast but cooked EVERYBODY!  He was cooking the best players in the league!

Larry's anticipation carries over to all sports...I grew up watching how he NEVER gave up on a play...I ended the state championship in football because I never gave up on a pass that was tipped. snagged it 2 inches from the ground. Thank you Larry

It's hard to get too much of this guy.  Imagine the practice it takes to get that good.

He would get so bored if he played today. He loved his career. Prior to his retirement he was due for contract extension . Office suggested he wait for the extension. He said No. “If he hasn’t gonna play he didn’t want to be paid.”

The NBA was never the same after Larry left.  It was a privilege to grow up watching him.  He looked so dorky but would hit those fall away jumpers like nothing.   It was very apparent that if you were Larry’s teammate you had to be ready 24/7 for an insane pass.

LeFlop’s topm50’flops would go viral back in the 80’s

I think Bird wanted that ball to never stop moving like a pinball machine. If their bodies don't get tired, their eyes will. Slow, I don't know...

If Bill Walton's feet were not shot it would have been 3 more chips

Bird's head was one big rotating eyeball. Unreal court vision.

Nice to see someone show video and NOt talk through whole thing. Bird is a legend and there has been nobody like him since. Uou can take couple guys and make a bird but not one guy. Best passer ever highest IQ and had so much live for the game

With the show they'd put on, you'd swear you could hear the "Globetrotters" music in the background.
Just amazing court presence and head's up ball playing.

If you notice all of these hall of Fame players when they talk about Bird there is a sense of reverence, deep respect for him as a competitor.

Bird has an awareness of the court that almost no one has ever had.  That is why he made such great passes.  He knew where his teammates were at all time.  It made his teammates better because they had to be aware that he could pass the ball to them at any time.

Parish was Birds favorite no look pass target. They had great chemistry!!

So Amazing how many tough shots Larry Legend SWISHED..he was truly 1 of the best players EVER...man could BALL!!!!!

This is why Bird will always be in my top 5 of all time.  His knowledge of the game, his literal bball IQ, combined with total situational awareness, talent, skills, and drive to win made him a threat any time he touched the ball!!
