I prefer watching old Federer matches now vs todays tennis. Thanks for sharing.

I think Roger loves big servers like Karlovic or Isner because he doesn’t really need to think : it’s all talent, instinct and reaction, and Federer is one of the best at this kind of game if not the best.

federer may not have the most grand slams but his game looks so effortless - it is pure class

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the fastest Karlovich serve I saw in this match was 211 kph--or 131 mph.

I watch this and remember how much I miss him. So entertaining, not to mention brilliant. There will never be another one like him, and so classy. Thanks for posting.

I bet federer came into the match thinking oh crap I need to play against the big serving giant but also karlovic probably thought oh, I’m playing against of the best players of all time 😳😳

Roger’s timing and hand eye coordination are basically peerless, and he mastered the bunt or short takeback return, and these made him the all time master of returning serve bots.

You just need to blink once for Federer to clinch the game. Its that one point in the tie break that Federer always gets. Here it was the backhand return of serve at 6-6 in the first set tie break.

Tall man with a power serve! Federer doesn't let that big serve discourage him. All good.

Man I'd forgotten the Karlovic serve ... Such a powerful one ... Yet, Federer dispatches him in straights... Puts things into perspective...

The way Roger has learnt after one set how to deal with and break Ivo's serve is incredible. As a Rafa fan I must admit: he is the GOAT.
