I met Chris Benoit in early 2007 outside a gas station in Villa Rica, GA. At the time I thought it was crazy he was in this little country town, it was after his death that I found out he would see a physician in Neighboring Carrollton who would give him pills. Maybe he was his way to or from seeing him that day. RIP to the family, a true tragedy.
Oh my god hearing him talk about his friend legit brought tears to my eyes. I love it when a man can actually be so thoughtful and caring and be able to articulate those things. This of course doesn’t take away from his actions. The effects of CTE should never be overlooked.
Let's not erase the fact that Nancy Benoit aka Woman, The Fallen Angel was a great manager and valet. Her contributions to the wrestling business shouldn't be forgotten
Stone Cold said it really well. Basically, Chris was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, but what he did as a man completely overshadowed that and was unforgivable. Such a tragic story, and it’s been extremely sad to hear the other perspectives on it, specifically with someone like Chavo who saw him as a brother.
Thank you for reminding everyone that leaving a domestic abuse situation is much harder than just 'leaving'. It's an incredibly difficult thing to do when you're beaten down, usually emotionally and financially, especially if there's a child shared between the two. On average it takes abused people around 7 tries to finally break fully free.
It's also an incredibly dangerous time. Once they see control slipping away, domestic abusers will resort to violence to try to reassert it. This often leads to an abused person's death or grievous injury.
Rather than ask 'Why didn't you just leave?' start asking 'Why did they think it was ok to hit their romantic partner and/or children?'
I ran out of JCS videos to watch and never thought I would find a channel that lives up to his work until now. Thank you for your dedication. If not already, I truly hope your channel grows enough for you to make this your full time job. May you find success in your craft.
One thing that's always struck me about this sorrowful case is how, in almost every clip or picture, Chris always had a look of sadness and downright misery on his face. He always looked just miserable and sad. Never happy.
I’m coming back to this video because I listened to it for the first time when I was packing my car to leave for college, and now after a mental breakdown, transfer, program change, and lots of hard work, I’m graduating this semester with a degree in anthropology! It’s strange what sticks with you but I associate this case now with that pivotal point in my life.
I wish that Chris had gotten help. I wrote letters to a dead loved one in my diary. It's not insanity. It's how we cope with grief. He was paranoid and that was more a problem.
Don't apologize for missing a week. Your output is something that most channels in this niche don't match, and you maintain good quality while doing it. If that means a week without content sometimes I don't think anyone in the audience is going to have a problem.
Thank you for your respectful telling of this story, Dreading. Your brilliant talent for writing, the soothing cadence of your voice, and your incredible understanding of human psychology, is blowing your channel up like crazy!
it’s the interview after eddie’s passing that really sends it home for me. if ever there was a perfect example of absolute sorrow it is hearing chris benoit sob over.
Such a tragic case. I remember being a kid and seeing that video of him breaking down after Eddie’s death, truly heartbreaking. There will never be any excuse for what he did to his family but I definitely think the trauma, steroids and head injuries played a HUGE part. My heart breaks for all of them especially the poor child.
Wow you have one uploaded already?? I thought you were taking a break, I hope you got enough time to heal. Please be sure to take the time for yourself, sending much love your way dude!
When this happened, Chris Benoit was my favorite wrestler, and I had found out I think when WWE ran the goodbye special for him BEFORE people knew he had killed his family and himself, all we knew at the time was that he had died - but yeah I was devastated
I've watched a lot of videos about Chris Benoit and this has to be the most respectful, I think you did an even better job than Dark Side of the Ring because you talked about Nancy too and how she got into the business
Also I'm sure if this was on purpose or not, but I like that you called him and other wrestlers 'fighters' and not 'entertainers', that's a big show of respect for what these guys put themselves through
