One part of the 3dp cost discussion a lot of people seem to be missing, is that the system isn't really there to buff our good detachments (Invasion Fleet and Subterranean). It's there to make the weaker detachments more attractive by being able to add more rules.

Having played exactly one game of 11e, SITW in absolutely brutal. Horrific. Just make sure you packed your neurotyrant.

The community seems to think that Purge the Foe is the best of the dispositions. You don't get bogged down trying to do things, you just go for a big scrum in the middle of the board and win...

I feel like if subterranean assault had a mission other than disruption it would be ok as a 3DP detachment

I've been interested in trying to make a ravener heavy list of vanguard assault + warrior bioform work. The 10 model ravener+hyperadapted bricks really like the buff from the battleshick strat, and you can support them with some big warrior blobs. Liberally add neurolictors, flyrant to generate cp and proc the battleshock strat with ranged attacks, and some form of heavy hitter, plus trash to fill the board.

It all seems lile it could make a big score differential with the changes to battleshock and to primary, which is cool

You can also use a lictor with a tyrannocyte to rapid ingress any 6 man unit during any turn. With means you can set up a hive guard with plunging fire to take out big tanks

In Subterranean Hive guards become excellent will cleansing fire bringing him out of the tunnels on top of buildings. They're now tank Busters for real

Cool video! What do you think about combo of Vanguard and Norn detach? Fall back and charge Assimilators sound brutal. Have a great day mate

Tried my first game of 11th last night, Crusher/Norn on Purge into Mercenary/Pioneer on Take and Hold. Only took a single Emissary to keep the critical mass of monsters, could definitely have taken a second but it worked out. Small sample size to be sure, but purge felt fine, as I could guarantee at least one kill for that mission. Kill, kill more style may be a bit more challenging, but if you're pushing Norns onto objectives it felt like it put my opp into a catch 22. If he focuses the Norn to kill it, it takes the whole gunline, and I get to kill more, and if he kills 2 or 3 other monsters, I hold the center and score on that.

This all said, I'm super excited to try out Vanguard with both the warrior and lictor detachment. It being recon is both so flavorful and powerful, since I think now we don't always need the 10 brick of raveners. You can hold warriors to counterpunch when you absolutely must bust up a unit, but otherwise just expend cheap resources and harry the edges of the board to be in the positions you need to be. Excited to brew with the new points, hope they're earlier in the week.

The mental gymnastics needed to acommodate GW's complete arbitrariness and lack of judgment in making these detachments balanced is out of this world. Try sub assult (disruption) against ANY purge the foe. Total detachment shutdown. Absolutely ridiculous.

i have played one game of 11th with crusher stampede and the lictor detachment and it was really strong. with the red terror, lictors and the new terrain rules the list felt really amazing. i also used an acidfex to contest the middle and his overwatch is nasty now

Rough tho that we can only use one strat per phase in terms of the free rapid ingress lictor

I'm finishing my grab in subterranean ass.
Next I'm gonna get on that Vanguard-Lictors one.
Then the assimilator-norn.
And OF COURSE the crusher norn sounds just majestic.

It's sad that Subterranean got nerfed a bit tho

Talons of the Norn Queen + Assimilation swarm I think will be very strong. Assimilator has the Harvester keyword. you bring 3 Emissary's 3 Assimilators, a mix of Swarmlord/Hive Tyrant, Pyrovores, Tyrant Guard, Ripper Swarm and it will be nigh impossible to take them off objectives. you pair up an assimilator with an emissary and you can heal your emissary on an objective while you assimilator now has an invul save.

Thanks, just the video i was hoping for!

Re sub assault, in 10th it feels balanced with invasion fleet, but with 6" deep strike, rolling a 7 to charge is much worse. This makes a melee sub assault army much worse. Also, its disposition doesn't mesh with the melee sub assault play style. However, the big unknown to me is the ability to choose your target after you roll. So I'm not willing to say the melee sub assault style is dead just yet.
A more balanced sub assault may still work out okay, especially when leaning into it's disposition. What i would say though, you need way more burrowers. No more taking three and thinking it will work.

One thing to consider with assimilation swarm and warrior bioform onslaught is that multiple units of six warriors may be hard for some opponents to mow down, so they can be resurrected. That might be a viable strategy for aggressive players only, though, so the opponent can't focus fire enough to kill multiple warrior units per turn!

Here at the start of the video, I have hope that the Vanguard Onslaught's force disposition of Reconnaissance will lend itself to my narrative play army's focus on terraforming the ground under the enemy rather than on ripping apart the enemy's armor.

Excited for Vanguard + Warriors. Watch my 6 + winged prime brick actually get in and crush some stuff!

I'm not surprised Tunnel detachment is 3dp, army wide reroll 1s is amazing on its own
A bit disappointed Invasion fleet is 3dp, it's a broad make everything better detachment but it really feels like that "better" isn't as good as many other armies generic detachments and off the tail end of 10th our unit stats still feel meh
Especially because we have 3 sources of pretty situational full reroll hits in our entire codex when cover  giving -1 to hit exists

In the live stream I was super doom and gloom but I’m very optimistic for Tyranids going forward. I’m really excited to play vanguard + ambush or assimilation + talons
