There genuinely needs to be new workers rights laws:
1) no fake job postings
2) max 3 interview steps
3) no free labor ("take-home projects")
4) new hiring transparency laws

NBCUniversal asked me to drive from another state to Seattle as the final step in the interview process to meet the team. "The team" turned out to be one person working remotely. Then they waited a month before sending me a rejection. The entire interview process took FOUR MONTHS of my time. I have a PhD and 20+ years of experience, and I've been jobless for almost a year.

I'm actually giving my resignation today. After coding professionally for 20 years, I'm just done. The mental abuse and being taken advantage of all of the time has had a huge tole on my health.

Don't get invested in any of the interviews, it's literally a complete joke until you sign the contract and start the job.

No way. Two, at the most three interviews. If your company can’t make a hiring decision after 3 interviews, their process is hopelessly broken.

So, basically, the home projects they're giving you guys for interviews are just them collecting your solutions to real problems they have. They take your solution and condense it into a prompt to feed ai, then they don't need to actually hire you. I bet that's what they're doing...

We need to protest. These big companies treat us like cattle, and we have no legal way to protect ourselves. We need to work to live and feed ourselves. DISGUSTING.

6 steps is just insane. A quick phone interview and two follow up interviews. Nothing more is necessary. It's truly diminishing returns after that and just becomes pointless.
