I didn't mention it in the sponsored segment due to this one being scheduled a way in advance, but the Tabletop Stronghold cases are currently on sale in a bigger way than normal (somewhere around 35-40% off for Black Friday). Thanks to them for sponsoring this one! https://tabletopstronghold.com/

It'd be nice for a video about how to best use each armies gimmick since they aren't touched in this one. Love the videos

Emperor I need this. The deployment phase is always where I eat shit.

As a newb to modern 40k, I had a couple of first games that turned out to be non-typical in that the tanks were doing a lot of missing and failing to wound. My units started to creep out into the open. My fourth game, the tanks finally started rolling decently and a noticeable quantity of my army was obliterated during that fateful first turn of firing (my opponent rolled to take the first turn). Rest assured next game my crew will be well hidden. My land raider will NOT be driving down the middle of the street like its making deliveries for Amazon.

Coming from Sigmar where ranged warfare feels so much more rare and terrain is practically nonexistant, I constantly felt like I was losing the Deployment Phase. I consistently failed to understand that it really determines the flow of the battle, the ability and awareness to predict your opponent and deploy accordingly.

I've been getting a lot better at Deployment and got a compliment about it from a Drukhari player I played against recently.

Good timing for the tabletop stronghold ad as their black Friday sale has started (even if you didn’t know at recording xd)

Feels like every Space Marinie list I write starts with 5 infiltrators, 10 scouts, 6 inceptors, 5 intercessors, and a combi-LT all with deployment in mind.

As a melee only army I usually push my units up early but behind cover and keep 1-2 reserves depending on how many screening units my enemy has

Just played my first game last week. I actually won, somehow, but the deployment for a set of Catachans involved keeping them out of cover, scouting them back to keep them safe, and then having to advance and order them frantically back forward after I rolled Cleanse and they were the only ones who could. So, uh, suspect I could use these tips...

A bit less of a deployment thing but more of a general movement thing: don't overcommit with your heavy anti tank unless you have a good chance of slamming down whatever it's shooting into.

Shoving your tank down a lane trying to get a line on the center objective and not paying attention to the positions and composition of the enemy can lead to absolute disaster. And it'll sting when you dont kill everything off the center objective and then lose that tank.

2 videos today about deployment, must be a sign

One of my favorite deployments strategies is to place units of 1 single Ripper Swarm model. It’s 25 points for what amounts to better deployment knowledge and some deep strike screening.

Great video. More like this with general best practices please!

Spend so much time thinking about the bad choices I am about to make.

As an EC player, i tend to use my ability to get somewhere fast as a way to completely block armies from getting into good position, like using a 10 man Tormentor squad just to infiltrate and make a massive wall to block units. Will they get obliterated? Of course, but by the time they die, my Flawless Blades are in the perfect position to take out the threat that they were blocking.

12:40 Correction: Vindicator can only move 9".

Without joking:Deployment phase the most important part in current games...😢

another 7 tips: 8. ALWAYS plan ahead, know what will happen if your plan success or fail - risk wisely - dont do risky things that could instantly win your game (it usually doesnt happen) 9. kill cheap units with cheap units, hide ur expensive units to kill expensive opponent units (if you kill cheap opponent unit with your expensive utnit, and die next turn in return it is bad ) 10. chose smart if you want to make missions - very often it is way better to kill opponent then make mission and die in return 11. usually try to push / play agresively (know how fast u can - it depends on army) - but if u kill your opponent at turn 4 or 5 u may have no time to make points and u will lose in points despite killing ur enemy. 12. it is much safer to do an overkill (and kill a unit for sure) then split fire and dont kill anything at all (it is the easiest way u can lose) 13. ALYWAYS know your enemy's army (stratagems, abilities, datasheets, moves etc) ask every game if he has scouts/infiltrates/redeploys/reacting moves/fight first/fights after death etc etc) . imagine what your opponent can play according to his army (what this army usually play like) if you dont know ur anemy u have very little chance to win  14. ALWAYS try be kind, dont let your opponent cheat but try to be cool and try to understand him and his way of thinging, be honest, dont shout or speak faul langueage, work to make game fun and nice - at the end of the day having friends is a biggest win u can have.

I played my first 4 games of this edition (first in 5 years) and my first two games I lost terribly because my Genestealers got absolutley wiped without doing anything turn 1/2, and my last two games I won because I was able to deploy them and get nearly triple their point value in kills with just better positioning.
