Could a catamaran be the future of tournament bass boats?
The FC TomCat takes a very different approach to the traditional high-performance bass boat. Catamaran bass boats aren't a new idea—but with today's hull design, electronics, lithium power and integrated boat systems, FC TomCat is taking another run at the concept.
These boats originate in South Africa and come to the United States, where they're fully rigged stem to stern in Seneca, South Carolina, before undergoing extensive testing on the water.
In this video I take a close look at the FC TomCat, talk with Fisher about the thinking behind the boat, and get into what makes a modern catamaran platform different from the traditional monohull bass boats that have dominated tournament fishing for decades.
And the timing couldn't be better. The 2026 Black Bass World Championship is happening right now on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with anglers from around the world competing for their countries. A special shoutout to Team Namibia, who are running an FC TomCat, and of course Team USA. Maybe we'll eventually see Team USA running one too! 🇺🇸 😎
This TomCat is loaded with the equipment serious anglers expect: Some of our Sponsors; Lowrance electronics, MillerTech lithium batteries, Blade Power-Poles and Mercury Marine, along with a fully integrated electrical and control system.
FC TomCat is making the first two 2027 production boats available fully loaded for $99,000, compared with an approximately $120,000 MSRP package.
Think a catamaran can't compete with today's high-end tournament bass boats? FC TomCat wants serious anglers to come to South Carolina, run the boat, fish it and make up their own minds.
COMMENT BELOW: Would you consider a catamaran for your next bass boat?
