SURVIVOR UK 2001 | SURVIVOR: PULAU TIGA
Before Survivor returned to the UK in 2023, there was the original British adventure.
In 2001, ITV brought Survivor to British television for the very first time, sending 16 British contestants halfway around the world to the remote island of Pulau Tiga in Sabah, Malaysia, in the South China Sea, just off the coast of Borneo.
The game would last 40 days, with the contestants divided into two tribes of eight and forced to survive the tropical environment while competing in challenges, forming alliances and voting each other out.
The season premiered on 21 May 2001 and concluded on 25 July 2001, with a £1 million prize awaiting the eventual winner.
At the heart of the island adventure was Mark Austin, the ITV/ITN journalist who served as the main on-location presenter, guiding viewers through the 40-day experience. Television presenter John Leslie hosted the studio-based companion elements, including exit interviews and the live finale and reunion.

This was where the Survivor journey began in Britain — Survivor UK 2001: Pulau Tiga.
